R.S Tuner... advice

Seriously considering one of these, im just a little unsure about plugging my car into a computer!?

Sounds silly but has anyone had any problems with these? Are they worth it? Does it affect your insurance?

Affect your insurance? Depends if you tell them.
Yes it will, any increase in power like cams, remap, throttle bodies will put it up.

I've got one of the older ones and i've never had a problem, as long as you upload the correct
maps for you car then it's safe, however if you upload the wrong maps it will f*ck you ecu,
but you'd have to be a bit thick to do that. The're all VIN number specific.

Plug your computer into your {insert proper name of port here} in your car.

Open the software.

Load new map.

Done.

thats what im slightly worried about, f**king up the ecu, is there a noticable differance?

It backs up your ecu anyway iirc.

You won't f*ck the ecu, and yes it's worth it.
I got so use to mine that I forgot what it was like before, so last summer I put the
original map back on for an hour and I thought my car was broken.

I'd forgotten that an RS clio has nothing before 5k rpm lol.

I remapped mine today, via the RS tuner. Great bit of kit, very impressed with it.

Still out of stock though IIRC.

sorry to sound a bit backward but just tryin to educate myself abit on rstuners/remaps but 1 thing is for sure i 110% want/need 1 for my 182

Only way you'd f**k the ECU up is if you uploaded the wrong software or a map not designed for your ECU or if your laptop crashed whilst uploading a map.

Really easy to do and makes a noticeable difference.

You and your insurance To be honest they'll never plug the car in to check the mapping on it, and even if they did I doubt they'd be able to tell.

It is a good bit of kit and the car drives much better for sure. ECU is backed up on laptop before the you upload the new .cal file. The only thing I found hard was locating the correct files for my car. If you do a search on here there is enough info to get you through it.

REMEMBER TO HAVE LAPTOP PLUGGED IN OR WITH A GOOD BATTERY!!! FOR ANY ECU WORK THIS IS A MUST TBH.
