Rainsports & tyre size?

  Renault Sport 172
Hi, im needing 4 new tyres, after alot of searching on here im gonna go for the uniroyal rainsport 2's (They seem best suited to the normal rainy conditions of aberdeen and shire)
Quick question though!
Do i get the 195's or can you get 205's on without any rubbing? (Ive got a 172 non cup running on eibach sportlines std wheels 195/45/16)
Im wondering about the 205's cos the stretch on the 195's dont seem to allow the rim protector to do its job.
Is there any reason im unaware of that would make it a bad idea to put 205's on?

Sorry if this has been answered already, but there are so many tyre threads on here that after a long time of searching i still couldnt find the answer.

  Whichever has fuel
205's will fit but they will look a bit balloon like.

Its down to personal preference though.

i went from 205s to 195s, ive not noticed any difference whilst driving.

they do look slimmer but only slightly.

oh and ive got rainsports on also, i went from pe2s andin the dry cant tell much difference, and better in the wet as you'd expect.
