Really need some decent back tyres after a scare at a roundabout...

Holy Sh*t! Was coming home from work tonight round a big, newly re- tarmaced roundabout with an adverse camber just after it had been raining. Ive got some decent firestones on the front and some crap budgets on the back!

Went in a little hot after gnashing to get the green light, anyways next thing i know im pointing right towards a white van on my inside!! Thought i was about to go straight into the side of this van! Kept my foot planted, handfull of opposite lock and managed to ride it out thankfully!

Defo time to get some decent tyres for the rear!! Although it must of looked awesome to the other cars that were about hahaha

Why people put budgets on anything (aside from drift competitions) amazes me.

Had the GF's old 182 step out on me in a big way at only 20mph in the rain. Did not need that at 7am on the way to work. "Infinity" branded tyres on there were comedy gold. Might as well have been made of wood.

Mine has HERO tyres on the back (which are surprisingly OK for a brand I've never heard of) but they have been fine so far even with provoking in the wet !! :dead:

ye man, Ive always known they were crap however they were put on new when i bought the car from the garage so havent needed replaced yet! Ive been really impressed with my Firestones so think im going to stick the front ones on the back and get some new front ones!!

Was seriously worried when i was facing right at the van on the inside! Still must of looked awesome to the folk behind me!! All i was thinking was, if i crash my tea is going to go cold!! haha

At the time i needed new front tyres and i didnt have a job so couldnt afford decent tyres... regretting it now!! Is toyo proxes t1r's what you guys would recommend?

Not for anything other than bone dry road conditons. Uniroyal rainsports are a far better tyre all round

Proxes are not great unless really dry which it really is, uniroyal are a couple of pound more so get them

as mentioned dont skimp on tyres or brakes

i did.....and ended up round a tree and it hurt ALOT

Don't stick the budgets on the front !!!! :dead:

They cant cope with zero power input and zero steering .. they won't cope with all the engine's power and having to steer as well...

185 to 195 ?

There's a 10mm difference in width across the surface of the tyre dyde .. unless you're rubbing the sump on the floor, there wont be a problem at all !!

Im already getting abit of rubbing on the front arches with it being pretty low so dont think i would be able to fit any wider tyres in there!! it would be fine on the back, just a serious lack of space on the front haha
