Really want to own a vee :)

  PH1 V6
Was fortunate enough on the weekend to meet a lad off here who owns a ph1 vee. I had some bits which we traded etc and he took me for a spin in it etc. Top bloke and was keen to tell me all about it!

well what can i say other than i WANT WANT WANT. such a great looking car, road presence is utterly amazing and its just totally outragous which i love lol.

Thing is im only 20 so i can see myself having to wait atleast another year before its financialy viable! (mainly for insurance reasons!)

Anyway... not a whole lot of point to this thread other than a sharing my excitement/what i want rite now lol

usually happens whenever you get into a car thats better than you own, unless its not as good as you expected

  PH1 V6
funnily enough i thought about this... i really dont think i would want to drive it at such speed because the car is a "statement" and no its certainly not the quickest car for the money but its not about that!

intresting thread btw

Exactly, i looked at evo's and M3's thinking they'd never touch me with a vee and was very surprised..

Mine was :) well i didnt have much choice.. i wrote my previous car off

Yep their are better/faster cars but you'll never get bored driving a V6

  PH1 V6
it would be a mk1 though because of the significant cost different etc, but i have been in a mk1 and i loved it lol.

Addz do you use yours as a daily driver? also werent you going to sell it at one point?

Yeah mark ones are still awesome cars.

Mine was a daily driver for nearly 2 years.. snow and all sorts! Was going to sell it because i thought i was getting bored of it but after the vee meet and blasting round the lake district i fell back in love and started chucking money at it again :)

  PH1 V6
haha wicked! yeah mine would be a daily drive if i were to do it which would make me sway towards a slightly lower mileage model only because i will be putting the miles on it. But i will shop around and focus on finding a well cared for example! with lots of service history etc.

maintainence wise i know parts are expensive and what have you but other than the well known "coil" problems and cost of tyres is there anything else to look for?

Thanks :)

Coil problems are a big thing but mines only blown one in 2 years, typical though... i used it every day for that long and no problems and i take it off the road for two weeks and a coil goes down :dapprove:

Tyres arnt cheap, best part of £500 for my back pilot sports but they've lasted 14k and still have a little bit left.... mine does get a lot of right foot too so i'm pretty happy with that!

Brakes cost a small fortune, £500ish for discs and pads are over £100 but again they'll last a while.

The main cost is if you start breaking bits, keep it nice and its all good but if you have a slight prang you're in trouble, iirc 1k a panel from renault.

Oh my mine rarely gets over 15mpg but again, my right foot might have something to do with that :D

Epic. Their was 9 of us bombing down a country road racing some motorbikes at one point :D and all drove through a tiny village and caused havoc trying to do a 3 point turn on the main road

  PH1 V6
sounds like a right laugh though tbh... the meets are what its all about imo especially when you cluster together a load of vee's!

How much were you paying at 21 (if you dont mind me asking)??

I want a vee badly aswell, and as soon as I can afford a decent one (after i finish uni next year) ill be looking for either a ph2 vee or go for an evo! Ill be 22 at that point btw (21 next month :) )

get a vee buddy... both cars are expensive but seriously an evo is a never ending money pit for fuel, tax and insurance! i havent owned either but i do have a brother who owned an evo and depsite the fact he loved it he sold it because there was just no way he could justify paying the fuel costs over other cars with similar performance etc.

vee is a one off and something very special imo thats why i want one... not for the power but simply the exclusivity :)

An evo has always been my dream car though, but I think ill get a Vee next year or soon after as its alot rarer than your everyday Evo lol.

Woah... Thats quality! My 172 is £1100 fully comp, with no claims/convictions. Im 20, with 1 year no claim bonus (been driving almost 4 years but was on my dads insurance prior to this). Gives me hope that I could potentially afford one next year ;)

I think i have ruled myself out of getting a vee now as i don't think it would go up the incline of my driveway :(

I get the impression over the years that very few people seem to own them long term.

I guess it's a tick off the list, it would be for me - totally impractical!

hmm i said i'd have one even if it was only for a few months and i couldnt afford/live with it, there's nothing else really out there i'd swap it for except possibly a tvr

  V6 255 (Illiad Blue)
Had mine a year...best year ive had with a car (i came from a ph2 172 and loved that for chuckability) but the vee is a monster and i love it...kinda like having a dragon for a pet and taking it out to the highstreet, you get some funny looks but its worth it

This is the same reason i would get one, i already have enough power and performance but would glady spend the extra 10k for the look at me appeal of the vee, lets face it do you ever turn to look at an evo or an impreza anymore?......both hugely more powerful but i'd still pick the vee anyday.

Pretty much spot on tbh mate, In my experience The Scooby and Evo drivers even snap their necks to look at the vee

Cant be much slower though can it?!?

Btw, may be a stupid question, but just thought about it now...
If the engine is where to rear seats should be, what is under the bonnet?

My mates scoob has 320bhp so mines slower in a straight line, probably round corners too to be fair!
