Rear shoes can be tricky if you've never done a set before. It can also fail if the handbrakes not efficient enough but if it holds the car most places would pass it. When you say it doesn't work much if its on would it move easily say to pull off??

I'd just let them do it see what the result is.

Probably just needs tightning up

4 torx bolts under the centre section to drop the heat shield down, then tighten the 13mm bolt to desired position, job done

For the rear drum brakes to operate properly on the handbrake, the shoes need to be frist adjusted so they have as little gap as possible between the friction surface and the drums surface. Once this is done then the handbrake cable can be adjusted, usually with a small nut near the handbrake pivot. Hope this helps.

O i never knew that! thank you! so how do i adjust the shoes? How much will it cost for them to adjust it if i dont?

if it fails on rear brakes and its only adjustment the most you should get charged is 1 hours labour. So going to be less than £60 I recon.

Loosen both hub nut's
Jack the car up and sit on 2 axle stands
Remove wheels
Remove hub cover
Look for a ratchet/adjuster in the hubs (will be easily enough to spot)
Adjust to push the pads out so that they just clear the hub
Climb under the car and loosen the 4 bolts which hold the exhaust centre section heat shield
Loosen the locking nut and the hand brake adjuster nut

Refit in reverse

1hr max and the jobs a good un

You may want to grease up the points where the rear shoes come into contact with the hub (NOT ON THE FRICTION MATERIAL)

Hope this helps
