rear fog light lightng up (faintly) when braking?

hi

got a problem, just noticed today onw ay to workt hat when i press the brake the rear fog light symbol on the dash lights up (faintly but sometimes fully) and then goes off when i let go off brake.. im not sure if the rear fog light dus come on from outside but i dont think so as i reversed near a shiny surface for a reflection and it didnt seem to come on, i just think its a fault on dash?

any ideas? can it be fixed?

Mine does this, cant really be arsed with trying to fix it, sourcing the problem with sometime like that can take ages... But if you manage to, PM me or post up here

try new bulbs in the right hand rear light cluster and also clean the connections to the light cluster, make sure the earth is good as well.

It's a bad earth.
Take the clusters out and check the main earth, it's bolted to the chassis behind one of them. It will either be loose or rusty/corroded.

mine did this, clean the connections in the back of the light cluster and check them all did it for me.

Also check the wiring loom connectors are corrosion free.

Mine does this. I've checked the bulbs the wiring connectors the light itself and the two earths in the boot, made no difference. When you disconnect the two earths the lights still work though so it must be earthed further back aswell not a clue where though!

so even though the dash light comes on for rear fogs.. the rear fog doesnt actually or dus it?

yeah it does, thats why you check the connectors on the back of the foglights!
