Rear wiper blank

Hi all.
My rear wiper blank (plastic half circular bit that wiper is attached to) has faded and is now very grey and looks pants. Is this easy to take off? If so, how do I do it? I want it off to spray and then re attach so I don't want to just rip it off!

Many thanks :)

This part. Any easy way to remove this for spraying?

Just been discussing this with another member lol.

Basically just lift the flap on the wiper, undo the bolt, take the wiper off (make sure not to snap it) then the wiper plate is secured by 2 clips, 1 either side. Gently prise it off and you're done :)

When you say wiper flap..... Where / what exactly do you mean? ;p
Sounds easy though!

You know how you can lift the wiper away from the glass? The flap thing I mean is the bit that stays flat against the glass on the left hand side.

That's the bit that is covering the bolt you need to undo :p It just lifts up.

Ahhhh I get you (i think!) I will have a go tomorrow :) many thanks matey! Just trying to tidy up the car a bit ;)

No worries buddy, just be gentle when taking the wiper off. I managed to snap mine when I did it :(

Really like flame red mate. We'll have to get some pictures together at CSS. (The cars I mean ;))

soak it in wd40 over night or for an hour before you take it off, they corrode due to the two different types of metal.

work it off slowly and be prepared for it to fly off if you pull on it, i didnt and boshed myself in the face

Okay matey. Heading off to work now so il give it a good soaking quickly, ready for later! Last thing I want to do is break things

Just worth checking should you have trouble removing the wiper - I recently took mine off and after removing the small bolt under the flap, it felt like my wiper was never coming off - it so happened that while a little stiff, it unscrewed, counter clockwise. Dead simple to come off. So if you're having trouble getting it off, try just unscrewing it.

Do mine a while ago. Use one spanner, 17 or 19mm, which you put one side behind the wiper arm the other over the nut. The with a 13mm spanner undo the nut while holding the oher spanner. As the nut comes off it pulls the wiper arm with it.

Maybe try some trim restorer on it? That should bring it up nearly as new.

I use megs tyre endurance gel on my plastics and it makes them look 10x better.

Thank you for the replies everyone. I will try the different techniques if its a real struggle!

As for the trim restorer idea, although that would probably help it out a lot, I'd rather spray it and be done with it oppose to keep having to restore it. Just keeps it looking better for longer! :)

Yeah I've noticed D: lol. May give up soon Its beginning to wind me up

Did you only use the 13mm spanner to remove the bolt? Placing the 17mm spanner between the edge of the bolt and the back of the wiper, and using the 13mm to then undo the bolt, could put enough force on the wiper to break the adhesive. I did mine like this for a while until the 17mm spanner arm began to shear the inside of the bolt, then i removed the 17mm, undid the bolt the rest of the way, and was then able to unscrew the wiper.

To do mine it took forever, but I took the whole motor out too as it was just a waste of a kilo imo. Patients is needed and chipping away the crap thats inbetwren the screw and wiper. Some WD40 helps too.

I was using a mixture of a tiny flat headed screwdriver, a pin and also a load of WD40 scraping away at the crap between wiper and bolt and still had no luck. As I say il try again another day. Somebody said just mask around and spray on the car - LOLfuckthat.
