Renault DCI BLACK SMOKE FROM Exhaust

Hi all
First time on Clio sport
Have an 04 diesel clio garage says head gasket gone I thought that would be white smoke done 140,000 miles in her
Any ideas

Black smoke is normal for an old diesel isn't it?

White smoke is coolant/water
Blue smoke is oil
Black smoke is un burnt fuel

So I was always told.

My dads Saab v6 diesel smoke like f**k under heavy acceleration

Hi mate welcome

Black smoke is unburnt fuel as said. Does it clear after you put your foot down or is it continuous ? Is it only when you put your foot down hard or does it smoke all the while ? And is low on power ?

Most likely EGR valve is blocked.
There is a guide on the above website to clean it.
