Replacement coil overs, or new shocks and lowering springs?

  Renault Clio mk3
Hi there,

as some of you may or may not know I have recently bought a clio III which used to belong to sofaboy. I have taken this car to the garage as it has sprung a leak from the sump, to which the garage also told me the rear shocks were gone and needed replacing. The dilemma is that the rear shocks are part of a coil over set-up.

Can I replace just the rear shocks or should I put stock shocks with lowering springs, I'm not sure?

Thanks in advance for your responses.
