Resetting immobiliser (cars still dead with another battery)

I need to move my car so i've stuck in the battery from another car,
but the car won't turn over at all, turn the key and 'click' dead!

I tried jump starting it from the other car but my alarm would not stop going off,
and could no be turned off, so I swapped the battery but it's still f*cked,
although I have managed to shut the alarm up.

The alternator's f*cked which is why it's sat for the past 2 months.

I have a feeling the immobiliser is kicking in, how do I reset it?

I tried a search but most threads are just a load of waffle and no real help.

Give this a shot...

Turn the ignition on for a minute, then off, lock the doors (key in the ignition), unlock the doors, open then close the drivers door and try to start it then.

My red light was staying on so tried this and it seemed to work.

I've tried every combination of opening the doors, pressing the button,
turning the key, it's just dead, if it was a horse i'd f*cking shoot it.

I think you're right Rob, I think i'll get my cousin to take it to Freds on his lowloader,
f*cking sick of the thing now.

I'll just have to wait for some invoices to be paid before I can ring anyone.

Dave are you sure the starter motor isn't ust stuck? Mine does that when it's been parked up for ages. Either put it into gear and rock it backwards and forwards violently, or get in there and give it a whack with something metal.

If the starter motor's clicking, this would be my first port of call.

Engine should still turn on the starter if it's the immob, it just won't fire.

Sorry bout that mate, might be a completely different issue.

Is the red immobiliser light on the dash staying on?

I though my problem was the TDC sensor initially then it worked out to be the immobiliser! On occasions the light wasn't going out so tried that combo and it worked, been fine since.

It doesn't turn over at all, just click, no immobiliser light or nothing,
no battery light either which is new, but all the internal electrics work fine.

The starter motor is the one you sent me Daniel, it span a lot better than my old one,
we tested both of them off the car.

When I get the battery back tomorrow i'll try rocking it to see if it's the starter,
I had to put it back in the other car as they needed it back.

It has sat for about 2 months so it's a possibility.

It's been in my garage since the dawn of time so it may well be a bit sticky! lol

It span twice as fast as my old one, so it's still good.

It might just need a kick up the arse to get it started.

I can hear the fuel pump prime, the throttle body twitches, it makes all the right noises
and the other battery was fully charged.
