Ridiculous insurance quotes - HELP!

Got a major problem on my hands, Clio GTT is nearly finished so its insurance time again. Ive rang 3 companies, not a lot I know, but I was expecting the best quote from one of those three, and to be honest I dont expect any of the big isurers like Tesco, CIS etc to insure a clio GTT.

HIC quoted 6k and Adrian Flux quoted 4.5K (FC) and Liverpool Victoria wouldnt quote me. Does anyone have any recomendations for insurers that deal a lot with engine conversions/dont care at all about engine power. Im 22, 2 years NCB, driving for 4 years, one crash back in 2000, no points, live in Liverpool in an ok area, Cat 1 alarm. I was expecting like 2-2.5k max

Not beind funny but

A) Your postcode wont help (Not being boris johnson)

B) your 22 with a high power engine

C) not only is it high power, its not a standard car

D) you only have 2yrs NCB due to the crash

Good luck, but i think your looking at a steep premium mate. Try the back of max power (If you can face buying it) for insurers who specialise in heavy modding

Engine conversion is never going to cheap to insure especially when youve modded the engine as well as what Blink has said.

I wasnt expecting it to be cheap but 4.5k FFS, most people of my age could buy and insure a modded valver for that! Im going to try TPFT and putting mum/sister on policy tomorrow. If i cant get it insured under 3.5k I might have to keep the car off the road and insure something real cheap on a bonus accelerator policy to get my NCB up or something.

insurance companys listing is in the part of the forum, make it so ur browser sees posts from the last 2 months or more then look at thread by KDF "everythin to know about insurance" something like that anyway

you should be able 2 get it cheaper if u speak to the right ppl

I was asked any accidents/convictions in the last 5 years

Yeah some insurers go back 3years and some 5years.
Yup I could never get insured on my exs car as her insurance company went back 5 and not 3 yrs.

Jesus! An Evo 6 would be cheaper! JONGSR4 insured his 4 in croydon (just as bad post code as liverpool id say - according to that list it was the highest group) for £1400 with Tesco at 22

Thats far more than I would have expected ! Would a Modified 5GTT still be the same for you or is it because the engine has been fitted to a Clio?

3rd Party named driver is all that would decrease it big time.

I thought confused is no good cos of mods? Liquidcool a 5GTT would be under 1.5k to insure I reckon. Its the conversion plus the power hike, not to mention the bodykit, interior, respray. I got a quote a couple of months back on a 10k supra twin turbo - £1080, gutted. The only reason I didnt get a supra was that when I originally planned to get one or do the clio gtt conversion the cheapest insurance quote was 8k! (year and a half ago)

Well thanks to Marcus cliogtt Ive just got a quote of £2350 from Brentacre, fully comp, unlimited mods, £550 excess. Great company, actually bothered about modified cars and very friendly and helpful, highly recomended, especially if youve got an engine conversion - 01792 650933
