Rocker cover and cams, quick one

Im just taking about to take the rocker cover my 172 cup and kinda noticing that the it looks like the rocker cover may hold the cams down?? is this true and if so hop would i remove the rocker cover without the cams snapping in half due to the tansion of the cam pulleys ?? lol

Yes it does, removing the rocker cover will knock the timing out

well i was going to remove it due to it being filthy and was just gonna clean it and spray it but forget that now , thank god i didnt take it all apart , thank fook for that .

im gonna start a tread on my car now anyway

You can clean and spray it in place mate - just make sure you mask off the inlet etc etc

paint the cams !!!! ive heard it adds an extra 5-10bhp as it changes the lobe duration and keeps the inlet valves open for longer :rasp:
