Re: Running ABS on track car???????????

id remove it , less weight , better pedal feel , use a cup master cylinder and rear proportioning valve and run new brake lines

Id keep it tbh, no real disadvantage to it and the clio system is quite good.

If you do decide to remove it, i'm braking a 172 cup, could get you the brake master cylinder, rear bias, and all the brake lines ;)

I've bought a complete cup set up for mine for £50. Its a cheap mod and not a lot of work, plus it makes the engine bay look loads neater. :)

I'd keep it, I've got a 172 cup and to be honest i've never had any issues with the lack of abs on track BUT given the choice i'd like to have it there, as Sam@BTM has said it's a very good system on the clio's, and there is no getting away from it abs can save you in certain situations.

Also got a 172 cup master cylinder for you to remove abs. Mines ready to post and only done 61k if your interested pm me

Keep it unless it goes wrong and they dont realy.

Not worth the haslte removing it plus it can stop the car better than you can anyway and if this is a track car then you'll want that

If you want 50/50 braking you can, but have fun having the rear of your car overtaking the front!

As the braking compensator thing-a-majig isn't switched on so all calipers will push the same amount

all the compensator are pre set all valves in the abs pump are open. only time they are working is when the abs is in use and the valves open/close to hold or reduce pressure in each brake to stop the wheel locking out.

Not another one ffs. Listen to Tony! You will have a crash if you disable the electronic brake force distribution that is incorporated in the abs.

Does the ABS 'save you from dying a horrible death' thing-a-ma-jig get disabled when the ABS warning light comes on?

sorry ben, but everyone is correct, remove the fuse and it will lock the rears up

What's the point ? I've still got ABS and it's saved me a couple of times on track when I've hit standing water. I've done 15 trackdays in my Clio and wouldn't dream of getting rid of ABS. Get some race pads all round and braided lines with performance brake fluid.

The renaultsport Clios are built for hard driving straight out of the box do I really don't understand why anyone would want to interfere with the brake set up. It's asking for trouble if you start messing about with it. You're more likely to have a crash because the braking has been altered. I would only let an experienced mechanic that has experience with track biased braking systems do any brake alterations. It's really not worth the risk in my opinion. For what little weight you might save it might be the difference in being able to stop in a tricky situation or crashing. I know which one I'd choose.
