Service light on and oil display flashing

Dropped the sunflower in for mot yesterday ( failed on rear discs ) and when i picked it up the oil level display flashed at me with no level and the 'SERV' light is on constantly. Any ideas ?

Check your oil level and don't drive it till you have

checked oil level and it hasnt moved.

started car and lo and behold error cleared.

french electrics meet British weather ????
