service/mot costs :-(

  Octavia VRS

Took my car to get a full service and mot on friday - thought to myself car is feeling alright, should pass fine BUT... got a call about 90 mins later saying the car had a list of faults!

things like anti roll link bar and rear coil spring had to replaced as well as the smaller things like new bulb, window wipers, brake pads, etc etc but how they all add up :(

on the couple days I have driven since then tho, the car seems a lot better, steering sharper, brakes better, handling a lot tidier. :)

all in all it cost £301.79 but they seem to have done a good job and I was impressed with them - first time I have taken the clio there.

Could the previous anti roll link car been the cause of the back end feeling twitchy before?

stusV6 - wasnt renault mate. stopped taking it there after warranty ran out!

John - I took it to J and J McIndoe they are based on the A89 beside the Williamsons garden centre. Thought Id go there as I wasnt impressed the last couple of times with the garage I usually use.

Think yourself lucky.

My sercive cost £210, and that was wiht virttually no labour, and MOt cost me prolly about £500 to pass.

But then the car had been neglected and i had virtually everything changed on the service

Used to go there all the time, Charlie is very good but I wasnt sure about the others after some of thethings ive seen, but the worst offender got sacked a while ago. Ever heard of JMSL in Polbeth, very good company, have a lok on the livicruise website for some feedback for next time!

What have you seen?

Is JMSL down in Polbeth Industrial Estate? The girlfriend lives in West Calder so not far from there. I was thinking about taking it to CCS (I think its called) In West Calder, but decided to go more local to me this time. Used to go to a garage called Three Acre up Greendykes Road in Broxburn and the first few times I went there I was pleased but the last couple of times I was pretty unimpressed with service.

My mates mums old Ibiza went in there for some work and cam out with a rattling noise, I had a quick look and decided it was from the wheel they had been working on so my mate slowly drove it back up from Howden. Got there to discover the hub nut that holds the full wheel assembly on was finger tight! Also another mate got his spark plugs changed and found is old ones lying around the bonnet. Orone of the many times Djw Dave took his old ax gt there and they broke the bonnet cable and we had to argue for weeks fro them to fix it! Used to be superb not so sure now.
