something in engine bay, near battery

whats the black thing above the battery, looks like an external hard drive? this is in a 172 if it changes anything

the point on the right hand side where it bolts to the car has broken, was wondering if this is an issue

The box is the ecu and the bracket breaking is quite common.

Don't think so it would fry the ecu. Might be wrong though.

If you remove it off the car and remove the ECU off it. But can't remember if that's possible?!

only going to be a quick tack to hold the bracket back together, would of thought it would be ok ? not as if it will be continuous heat on the main box itself. either that or ill cold weld it with some sort of mastic type thing

Just take it off and swap it - not much work
