Strut turret worn away - help "/

  Focus RS + S3
Went to investigate a clunk i get whilst parking, so i headed straight for the top mounts, on the drivers side the hole where the suspension strut comes through has obviously been wearing for quite some time but ive only had the knocking a week or so, the circle for the strut is now elliptical and im pretty concerned as obviously you cant replace the turret. The passenger side is starting to do the same. will solid top mounts be the only way to solve this?
And where there has been wear, im not sure if theres room to drill the hole for the allen bolts on the ktec solid mounts for example.
Also would the washer fix be appropriate temporary?

Ill upload a pic when im on my pc

Any help/advice would be great

This was done as a 'fix' by dealers to stop the knocking noise. Get some new top mounts and you should be sorted.

Don't panic! That was done by a dealer (yes really!) as an official "fix" to the strut top knocking issue even though they already new how to fix it. Its not strutural or load bearing so don't loose sleep over it its purely cosmetic.

Either get 2 new strut top mount kits which should hopefully be the revised version with the spacers in or just try to get some spacing washers and reuse the originals.

Hence the reason you are best going to a specialist over a dealer any day of the week to work on your car.

The new kit's don't come with the new insert. You have to buy them individually, which is daft.
