summer tyres

Looking at getting some pirelli p zero nero's, anyone have them and know how hard the sidewall is?

  Turbo 182 Alfa 159
Awesome tyres!

Absolutely loved mine. By far the best tyre I used in 16".

Lasted approx 14,000 miles on the front plus 16 1/4 mile runs at a drag day.

They were awesome in wet and dry, i properly hammered mine and never once did I worry they were going to let go.

Sold then! Not bothered about road noise, wont be able to hear it for my exhaust anyways lol! Are the sidewalls soft or hard? Cause I'm sick of the wooly feel from my rainsports, and dont want soft sidewalls ever again! !!

Yeah well I was thinking about them but I don't do track days yet just fast road and few spirited country drives every now and then so not worth the extra money! And at £74 a corner the nero's win on money!

I know this thread is about pirelli's.

But in my opinion, go for conti sport contact 3.

Run them on mine, very good in the dry and wet.

Also coped ok in the snow.

And a bonus, side walls/tread pattern look good lol.

Fair enough.

I've not run anything else on mine. Sticking to what I know.

Don't want to go for something different and regret it.

On cams kill these are graded B in the wet, the same as Nero's.

They're not made anymore unfortunately. Replaced with sport contact 5.

Federal RS-R's are 74.69 a corner just now on mytyres.co.uk in 205/45/16 if its the cost of r-series tyres that are swaying you. I have got a set ready to go on at the local tyre fitter and you get them fitted for £8 a corner through my tyres.

74.69 you say hhhhhhmmmmmmmm!!! May have to have a look, only after 2 for the front, still got plenty of tread in my avons on the rear!

  Inferno 182FF
Im the wet they're only rated as 'E' though is that right? Anyone had any experience with the RSR in the wet? Also can anyone compare the rsr to the p zero?

  Turbo 182 Alfa 159
Thats the standard size on a 172. I switched from a 205/45/16 to a 195/50/15 and noticed no difference.

Long as your still buying premium brand tyres you won't notice any difference on the road in my opinion.

  Inferno 182FF
Think I might go for the RSR's for that price, p zeros seem too safe of a choice lol! I might get them next time depending on what these are like!

My mate runs them on his mk1 FRS and goes weekly over hills of Glenshee near me in snow/rain/grit and has never complained, obviously standing water will be a problem but all tyres suffer from that. Iirc they have 7mm tread too.

Can't see them being any worse than most tyres, the new Nankangs I run were absolutely fine on the motorway the other day in torrential rain and loads of standing water.

When I say standing water, remember I'm from the north of Scotland and I mean 'standing water' not just a covering that you southern cissy's are used to lol.

  Inferno 182FF
Ha ha if I stick with semi slicks then so be it! And if there good enough for glenshee they'll be at home in the north east!!

If you really want track tyres, maybe R1Rs might be more suitable for road use.

From all the reports/reviews I have read R1R's aren't as good as RS-R's and AD08's are a step better again for dry grip.

RS-R's seem to be the best all rounder going, price v wet/dry grip.

Anyone know if the psi will be diff from normal for them? Currently running 34 on the front for the rainsports!
