tappets gone + 428's ££££?

rite i have a ticking noise from my engine, simular to the dephaser pully noise, but it isnt.
i have been informed that i will need new tappets.
i will be getting the cams changed to 428's at the same time. i may aswell while the engine is taken apart
anyone have any idea how much this will cost? minus the £600 for cams

are these original or aftermarket
and did anybody bought these is there a problem

if you wernt gona have the cams done then i would try flushing your system out then putting some new oil and filter on. i have the same problem and have been told by fred to try this first as it might be a sticky tappet but the engine flush should unclog it. im just waiting for my oil/filter to be deliverd then im gona try it. if that fails though i may be taking the same route as you

I had a similar pproblem on my last car, used some wynns hydraulic valve train stuff in and sorted it out.

the tappets that guy sells work no problems. ive got a set with my catcams (just rebuilt) do you already have verniers?

was just basing it on cams being £600, belt fitting £350, remap £250, removing cam cover and popping new tappets in £200 and £100 for sweets

woman at my wrks hubby might be able to fit cams and lifters for me instead v paying loads of ££££. he used 2 wrk 4 renault aswell and now teaches mechanics so should know what he is doin lol

il keep u informed on price incase ya wana save abit of money lol

Make sure he's got the proper tools to lock the pulleys and set the cam timing.

Just cause he teaches doesn't mean he's any good ;-)

rite my engine basicaly exploded. so i was forced to bring repairs forward and opt out v the cams for a while. i needed 2 plugs re-threading as they blew out the top of my head. gt the tappets changed and a new drivers side drive shaft for £350 all in. nt bad at all but will have 2 w8 a couple of weeks 2 gt the cams now lol
