The White Details Treatment

This week, my brand new Clio 200 Cup visited Jim at White Details for the second time in its short 2 month life.

Whilst waiting for the car to be delivered, I was liaising with the Dealer to ensure that they did not wash the car when it was delivered to them. This was because of all the horror stories you hear about dealerships not using correct techniques to wash cars and leaving the covered in swirls. The plan was to receive the car and take it straight to White Details for some Paint Protection.
Unfortunately, on the day that the car was delivered to the dealership, the dealer wasn't working, so the valet team ignored the instructions and decided to clean the car :(
A few days later after having it home, I noticed the car had some swirl marks on the drivers door, but didn't think too much of it at the time. Little did I know how much damage there was to the paint, all from this one substandard wash.

On the 20th December, I took the car to have its treatment at White Details. The damage that Jim and I found was truly shocking. Below is the initial report that Jim wrote:

I was absolutely gutted that my car was presented to me in this state.

After presenting this report to both the dealer and Renault UK, a swift decision was made by the dealer to cover the costs to have the car taken back to White Details, so that the car's paintwork could be put back to the standard that it should have been delivered in.
At this moment, let me thank the dealer in question for all his help and ensuring that the problem was sorted asap.

Fast forward to this week. The car went back to Jim to have some much needed correction.
To say im happy is an understatement with the results.
Here is the link to the final report written by Jim:

Jim has been absolutely fantastic throughout the whole process. From attempting the initial detail in sub zero conditions, right through to having this weeks correction, he has been brilliant and I cannot recommend his standards of work enough. Hopefully, it wont be the last time that one of my cars gets the White Details treatment.

Just a few pictures copied from the above link to show the car in its current state:

Correction, Reflection, Perfection!

Certainly lived up to his company's slogan.

The black headlight on the normal 200 finish the front off better imo! Cars looks good though, not the best pics though, colour seems washed out?

Utterly ridiculous to think that because someone wasn't working, people just go ahead and start ruining 14k worth of someone elses property. Complete dealer fuckup.

The work by Jim is as amazing as usual. If I ever get a car and want it "fixing" it'll go to him.

.

I was absolutely gutted to see that my car was in such a state. :(
But, the dealer was very helpful and they have covered all costs to rectify the issue so all is good. I just hope that they have learnt their lesson and their "valet team" (if you can call them that) got a massive bollocking for costing the dealership £350. It is truly shocking that just one substandard wash can totally f**k up a brand new car's paintwork.

Are all dealers like this ?worried as my mum has a new mini on order, should i get her to tell them not to wash it or is it just renault ? Also very good work as usual :)

O right yeh i thought he meant because my mum would wash it with a sponge, i wash her car.

All dealers are bad for washing cars. Mine was pretty much pristine until it went into Audi for a few days for an MOT and service. Even though I had specifically told them not to and there were signs all over the car, they washed it and marred it to feck.

Hi Harpham,

Thanks for posting this. Glad you were pleased; it worked out OK in the end didn't it! :)

Hope all's well.

Thanks everyone.

+1, except i would do it my own :approve:. We had a Volvo S60 T5 and Fiat Grande Punto T-Jet delivered in the same conditions, also while asking the dealer not to touch it.

Did anything get done about the strike-through?

No, wasnt too bothered about this tbh as you dont notice it. It would need respraying wouldnt it, so didnt want to mess with that anyway. Nor was I bothered about the respray issue as you cant tell, although I would have liked to have know what would have warranted a respray before I had even seen the car.
My main concern was making sure the paint was up to standard.
