Thinking of selling the vee

As I aproach 30 the house seems more important than a sexy, pretty weekend toy sitting in the garage. The vee was all that mattered before, but tbh I'd rather get my bungalow finished.

Im undecided really, I love the vee to bits. I know I will not find a better one, bar a few front end chips but thats what you get with these. I will have the 172 still. Maybe sell both & get a 197 or summat a little newer.

I cant decide, I dont like putting milage on her & I much prefer my time when i clean her.

Help me decide. :(

keep it, you can sleep in a car, you cant drive a house ;)

I've got loads to do to my house, and i'm approaching 30 and toyed with the idea of ditching the turbo........but I just know I would really regret it and never be in a position afterwards to do it all over again when I did miss it, my cars kinda one of a kind, I couldn't just go out and buy another, there isn't another! :)

Difficult as not many people will ever be in your circumstances.

If you think you've had what you want out the Vee in terms of fun and memories etc then maybe it's time to sell up, the fact you're considering it may suggest this.

95% of people will storm in here and say 'NO' because of just how nice and well kept your Vee is. If you were to sell then it'd have to be to the right person. It'd kill me if I had such a car and knew someone wasn't taking half as much care as what I/You had done.

Flip a coin?

Once you intially think about selling a car that you're attached to the feeling never goes away. Get it up for sale :)

You'll miss it.

Does Value + Polish = Dawn Value?

You're not going to sell it for peanuts to monkeys like Rob and Chris. You might not get what you want/think it deserves.

It has recaro's too???

Does it have silver wheels now?

Depending upon when you sell, if it's the new year, I could be interested. Even if you won't sell it to me, I'll send a friend to buy it ;)

Oh and obvs I'd let you polish it bi-monthly.

:( shame.

Such an awesome car for the money. Best I can offer is sexual favours, and that's a weak offer at best. I could get you a great deal on some knock off garage doors if not?

Anyway, you won't sell it. You'll regret it forever. I've managed to secure a lockup to keep mine in, even if it stays there forever and ever and ever.

Roughly what ballpark figure would a Vee in that condition fetch?

If your priorities in life are changing then why not sell it, release some of that capital to invest in other projects, like the bungalow, then in future years when you get the urge and the finances allow you can start looking for another Vee, or something else, to fill the hole in your heart.

After selling similar recently i'd say yes. Strike while the iron is hot, although i'm not sure what the values are like at the moment. I do think it would sell eventually.

Good luck if you do hun. My thought process is put it up for sale, what's the worst that can happen? You don't have to sell it but you might get some interest. :)

I offered you a lockup, I bet you're even paying for this one.

Oh and is garage doors a serious comment? :D

As of yesterday it could be yeah. LOL

It's like 20 quid a month, proper garage too. It was either that or suck the rich wanker off and I know which I'd prefer.

Noshing.

Keep it and just plod a bit slower at the house. Don't focus on targets like 'must be done when im 30'
30 or 32 won't make any difference in reality.

whatever you do don't buy granite worktops or a Belfast sink, or you'll be selling the Vee and spending the cash on plates and glasses every 2 minutes ;)

I immediately thought of this when i read the topic:
The Clio that became a Kettle

Judging the responses of things like id keep it:
With the arrival of my daughter, my Alfa 147 GTA became a BMW 530d Touring :'( But I've kept the Alfa keyring on the keys. I miss it terribly

I'd think less of you if you sold it. Now I'm not suggesting that what I think of you should make your decision for you but it should probably be a consideration.

Think on young lady...

I'd love to own your vee.

I'd treat it like our lass.
Speak to it respectfully through the week, ensure it is washed and then smash it until the wheels fall at the weekend.

We just need to agree the price.

i think you couldn't sell it to anyone on here if you did :quiet:

think it is just down to how badly you want a new kitchen as you said compared to the vee. me being a car enthuiast would have the vee anyday

  RX7 FD
If you want to sell the Vee to fund a kitchen......what kind of kitchen do you want? One that comes with a complimentary chef

Sell the Vee to me! I'll live in it!

Im sure i could sort you a deal out on a nice kitchen in return for a discounted Vee.

Besides selling it to me, you would know that it wouldnt be abused as i wouldnt be able to afford insurance!

  PB Clio 172
It's catch 22 because these cars are sometimes too nice to drive. If I owned one I would just use it once a week and then you have to ask yourself if you are not driving a car what's the point in owning it- insuring it, MOT, Tax, keeping it up to service, storage fees(if any) etc.

Still on the other hand it will sell for so much value and I can never see the value going down on a vee :approve: winner both ways

This might be a mad suggestion but why not punt it on and pocket 5-6k and buy a 230 V6?

You could tart it up etc..

Alter the house to accomodate the vee where the kitchen would be, pop the lid and use the engine as a hob!!

Seriously though, sold the Scooby I'd cherished (and spent lots of hard earned on) when my daughter was born 4 years ago to get all sensible and, sad as it is, there isn't a month that passes when I don't regret it. If the vee is the dream and you are not tired of it get a slightly cheaper kitchen the keep the damn thing!!

How do you get on with the 182 and the wee one?
