He has severe trouble diagnosing and repairing what is wrong with his little 1.4 petrol engine. A 1.5dci will cripple him, a punto isn't the way forward, I would go for a nice 53 plate Fiesta for that money.

and watch when you go over bidges there might be a car in the middle of the road causing you to go into the field.

head gasket is leaking oil exhaust needs new flexi (whole front bit), new engine mount, new steering column

Jesus a FIAT... You think you have issues with your clio being a bit shonkey, a FIAT will spend more time in a Field (Or do a mean Garage) LOL than a clio

Have a Look at Fiesta 1.25 or Diesel, you should be able to pick one up in your budget (Personally I would buy a Clio DCI though as I have had 5 and all were bullet proof and i really abused them)

Punto's are horrible cars. I was thinking about getting one for my first car but thought, for the money, Clio's felt better built, which is saying something really.

I used to have an 07 plate grande punto (the new shaped ones) as my first car.

Only problem I ever had with it (apart from being a 1.2 8v) is that the fans stopped working one night at 2am when I was 80 miles from home, with ice on the screen and -3 weather wearing a t-shirt.
