Top Mount Torque Settings

Does anyone know the torque settings for the frount suspention top mounts?

Ive done a search and found the torque settings for the Bottom bolts that connect to the wheel, but cannot find the top mount settings.

Ive tried to undo them myself and they will not budge at all.

I had prolines fitted by a local garage and have a slight knock on one side when accelerating from a standing start, I think they have done the top mounts up too tight.

I'm gonna go back and have them look at it but I want accurate torque settings before I let them loose on it again.

Any help would be appreciated.

Make sure the spring is seated properly. As I think someone on here had a similar problem and it was because the spring had twisted out of its seat.

The top mounts are just there to stop the suspension dropping out when you jack the car up or go over a bump. They dont need to be tight at all. As fred said they just need to be nipped up.

When I was trying to loosen it the spring cluncked and now the noise isn't as bad, I bet there not seated properly.

Try and save money with local garages and they just f*ck everything up!

Best thing to do would be to go get them airgunned off then put them on hand tight for the drive back home. Then when back jack the car up and check the springs are located properly and if not have a fiddle. Then just nip the top mounts up when your done.

f**king tight = ft

that's too tight for top mounts, you literally do them up using a socket and a ratchet by hand until they stop, you'll feel resistance from the spring, anymore than that and YOU WILL knock the spring out of its top plate = banging and knocking
