Is it just the traction light or traction and serve light?

What position is the steering wheel in why your going straight? I.e is the tracking out?

I had a similar problem when I had fitted a load of bits and tracking was out, I knew the cause so I tracked it and it was sweet. Now this may apply to your car or may not as some ph2 172's were fitted with speed sensors and some work the speed out via abs.

Now if the steering angle sensor is measuring more the 5 degree yet it's still going in a straight line (tracking out) it gets all confused and chucks the light on. This is cause it doesn't notice the difference in the front wheel speeds that it should when cornering like it should, hence the light coming on.

Only if your wheel is in the position described lol

Ok so might get the tracking done tomorrow then and then see what happens, it only does it at high speeds aswell over a period of time not instantly takes like 5-10 mins to appear. Tracking is out a little though from where we had both hubs of and track rod ends.

Yeah symtoms sound like this more then likely the course, it generally brings the light on at higher speeds as this is when the difference between Nearside and Offside wheels should higher

Oh sorry copied wrong link lol

and yea not the abs light though. And service light is on with airbag light already sorting that at weekend

yea so sounding stupid is this a mad rush to sort as i only really go max 20 miles a day to work and back and barley over 50mph aswell or could it wait untill my day off next week?

Like I say I drove around for a week until I could be arsed to alter the tracking, it's fairly easy to adjust it to make the like go out but it'll still need checking to make sure your alignment values are right but can't see it being a problem mate.

Fitting a new wheel shouldn't cause this issue as this is cause by tracking being out. Are you sure you haven't over rotated the squib whilst the wheel was off?

This would break the internals of the squib and put these lights on.

the chances are that I have tbh... I have got the abs light off now. I have the steering angle sensor with the yellow light on an still get the traction and service light, after starting up and moving off they come back on. it has only disabled my traction control which I don't mind as I turn it off when on the track anyway. I'll settle for that as I'm getting fed up with the car now haha!

Sounds like you have tbh, as long as the airbag or abs light isn't on can't see any problems regarding MOT but don't quote me on that cause there always changing the rules.
