Trick Front Differential

  MK1 Mexico, Clio 172
I was watching a Top Gear and they were saying the new Golf GTI has a trick front differential like the Focus RS. Can you get these after market, I was thinking that torque steer must be quite a problem on these high powered turbocharged Clio's.

Just musing really, might be a daft thought......

  A special one.
Gripper do a plate diff or quafe is a fit and forget diff.

Both are around 1k to buy plus fitting.

Sooooo...musing continues. My Clio has decent suspension - ASTII's but engine is standard. Is this a bit of overkill for a standard car on trackdays or a worthwhile addition

I am considering going the turbo route at some point too but perhaps not. I know people say thay chasing bhp is a bit pointless on a clio so maybe for a grand chasing handling is the way to go

Have you done any track days yet...?

My standard 172 was only ~10mph slower at the braking point than the 275 Meg Trophy at Bedford's long back straight.

Clio's are all about the corners.

There is a good thread here that discusses the pros / cons of Gripper vs Quaife;

The Gripper is the best mod I have done to mine, by far. Depending on the ramp angle and setup of the Gripper, aswell as the intended use / amount of miles will determine the rebuild time. If you are handy getting a gearbox in / out then I'd go with a Gripper. If not, fit a Quaife as it is fit and forget.
