Tyre profiles

Currently i have some 195/45/R15's the front two need replacing but i have noticed that getting 195/50/R15 are considerably cheeper.

Can i run 45's on the rear and 50's on the front until early next year when the rears will need replacing or should they all be the same profiles?

Sell the 45s and just get 4 of the same (and right) size !

I wouldn't want to induce negative rake like that. It will look daft and handle awkwardly I'd imagine too...

Yeah, I swapped out to 195/50/15's at the same time on my 1.2.

Only downside was they did look a bit like balloons when I had lowered it.

Cheers for the advice, after checking my current tyres they are 195/50/R15 so i ordered some more 195/50/R15 in the Uniroyal RainExpert guise.

Question is as i have only ordered two new tyres, should i put the old ones on the front and new on rear or the other way round. If it helps ill be replacing the old ones come feb/march when they are worn down

If you can be bothered, then new on the driven wheels but TBH really doesn't matter that much. Especially if you're changing the other two in a couple of months.

But if you have deeper tread up front, then you will have better steering control in deep standing water etc. so 50/50.

Not arguing that at all but the fronts have a lot more things to do overall. They are responsible for the going, the steering and the vast majority of the stopping. I know the back end can easily be lost, so slow down for bends then lol.

It's what I'm running now (cant afford tyres), it's a little more arse-end happy but still handles pretty well :)
