REnault clio 1.4 or a 1.6

i want something thats younger then 2001. i went to see about one today it was a 1.6 2002 but it was sold . I jus cant decide which one to get tho. Do you think you can get the 1.4 to the same power as the 1.6 quite easily? i want something thats about 9 seconds 0-60 or around that range with either no or very little mods.

what you think would be the best option to get?

1.4s are 98bhp
1.6s are 110bhp

Ive got a 1.4, and I dont think the performance is very good, and fuel economy isnt good either, i think the thing to do is either go for a 1.2 and get good economy etc, or a sport for the power..

  Golf GTI 1.8T
1.2 16v is 75bhp (same as my 1.4) you'd better certainly better off going for the 1.6 if you can afford it, they are a bit rare though.

Theres not a huge amount in it the 1.6 has a bit more torque and power buts its not much.
The 1.6 will allways make more power with the same modifications but there more expensive to buy and insurer.
I'd look at a 172 personally.
If you want to do that quick get a 1.8 16V Mk1 Clio.
The 1.6 is very rare car though.

I was lookin at a few i know there rare its maybe why i want one. im currently stuck with the 1.2 8v and its painfully slow.

Cant really afford a 172 although i wud really like one and the 1.4's seem to be more expensive then the 1.6's :S obviously insurence wont be. just wanted to know if the 1.4 is any good for a quickish car. i know the clio are pretty fast as well for their engine sizes e.g 1.2 16v clio rips a 1.4 seat leon lol.

any other surjestions for a quickish sorta car?

my g/fs got a 1.4 16v SXi, with around 95 bhp. Should do 0-60 in around 10 secs so not a bad little engine. Also she has no rattles and they are a much 'smoother' car to drive. Her insurance is around 500 quid with three years no claims and the car itself is a group 4.

I'm currently trying to find one of these, having a bit of a game though mostly because i'm a picky bugger and want one with climate control and cruise control and I haven't found one with both yet, might end up just settling with climate and calling it a day though because i'm getting bored of looking.
Seem fine though, there pretty much just like my current car by just with a bit more much needed power.
If course i'd rather get a mk2 172 but £900 insurance is better that £3500 , I will have one next year though.

Was almost temped with a Yaris T-Sport though, i'm VERY impressed with them on the whole. Probably would of had one if it wasn't for the fact i'd loose the precious gadgets i've got in my clio (bit of a gadget ***** really).

If you can afford the 1.6, you may as well go for that one, otherwise, if you're anything like me you'll just be wishing you went for the higher spec one!

I had an 03 1.6 16v before my 182, really good to drive and faster than you think always felt more than the quoted 110bhp.
