V6 CLIO

AS A NEW MEMBER CAN ANYONE ADVISE ME AS TO THE FOLLOWING PROPOSED MODS TO MY V6?

REAR LIGHT CLUSTERS , WHEELS 18" ?? , EXHAUST SYSTEM , MIRRORS

I NOW K TEC HAVE SOME OPTIONS ON THE ABOVE BUT IS THERE MUCH ELSE AVAILABLE??

ALSO HAS ANYONE WITH A V6 CHIPPED IT OR FITTED AN UPRATED AIR FILTER AND WHAT EFFECT HAS THIS HAD ON THE ALREADY GREAT PERFORMANCE? BEST TUNING COMPANY TO USE??

I AM BASED IN CHESHIRE AND WONDER WHAT MEETINGS / EVENTS IF ANY ARE FORTHCOMING?....

PS WELL ORGANISED AND INFORMATIVE CLUB WEBSITE - SOMEONES PUT A LOT OF WORK AND EFFORT INTO IT!!!!

hi mate, where abouts in cheshire you from, im from cheadle! anyway, wouldnt bother with mirors, wheels etc, the V6 looks too good in standard trim and you risk losing too much money on aesthitic mods! go for decent chip, zorst and filter OR NoS, i know a local place that can fit it with a guarentee for 600 quid(ISH!) and the V6 engine loves it and can handle anything up to 100bhp if the driver can! welcome to the club also!

I would agree.

Leave as standard. The car is so different to anything else on the road, no need to modify its looks.

Unless that is you see a number of V6s each day and want it to stand out from the V6 crowd (which I doubt).

I am not going to touch mine as far as performance modifications go. Keeping it 100% Renault standard!

is it an mk1 or mk2?

ie what reg is it if you dont know which one it is?

:)

welcome to the funny farm btw.

Mark Fish Motorsport on 01279 431628. BenR and Project254 via PM through this site should definitely be on your list of people to talk to.

Just so you know - PiperX IK makes it sound even better above 4000rpm but watch out for small animals and children being sucked in. Aftermarket exhausts are a neccessity because the Renault one will rot away and it does too good a job of muffling the v6 noise. K-Tec one is a masterpiece of engineering, other companies you could talk to include Quicksilver in Battersea - expensive but everytime I hear it I dont regret paying the money!

Dont expect either an IK or exhaust to give you huge gains just accept that they make the car slightly quicker but a lot nicer sounding. Superchips offer an off the shelf upgrade but it wont take advantage of any modifications. "Real" tuning is going to cost real money.

There are other Mk1 owners on this forum who have gone down the serious tuning route see MikeT for example and his supercharged v6.

Hi ...welcome to the forum!

I was also looking into a Superchip a few weeks ago for my V6, but the performance would be an extreamily low improvement after reading the feedback from others in this forum. Unless you will be using the external type you can upgrade to make the most of your future tuning. The exhaust from k-tec looks like a good deal as others have paid far more than this to have theres custom made. Also... I agree with others, I wouldnt touch the lights unless you desperatly want to stand out from other V6s in ur area... the lexus (clear) rear lights are starting to reach the end of there coolness life. But.. the latest MK2 V6 lights may be an option. (many will agree the body styling is just about perfect as it is).

Yeah leave bodystyling well alone unless ur doing subtle things like putting the mk2 v6 rear lights on urs (assuming its the mk1) etc, but different (maybe lightweight?) alloys might be an idea, but dont do anything like mirrors etc, coz its already one of the most original cars on the road as standard!

THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP , ADVICE AND CRAZY IDEAS FROM YOU ALL..!!!!

I HAVE REPLIED TO ALL INDIVIDUALLY......

we have a "midlands meet" near birmingham on Sunday, after greyhound racing in Milton Keynes on Saturday Night.
