Washer Pump

  Clio 182 FF
My windscreen washer pump is naff, only a trickle comes out. On saturday after copious amounts of swearing at the wipers I took the bottle out and as the two pumps are the same I swapped the pumps over - putting the naff pump onto doing the headlights and the good pump onto doing the windscreens. Windscreen washers are now eleventy million times better, and the headlights only get a dribble. This will do for now as I don't give a monkeys about the headlight washers, but obviously I should get and replace the pump sometime (apparently if you've got headlight washers they should work for the MOT).

So I went on Eurocarparts, filled in "Renault Clio 2004 2.0 Petrol" and ordered a new pump. Because of the whole selecting your car thing the website only showed me one model pump, and I ordered it without thinking. http://www.eurocarparts.com/ecp/c/R...06d5e0ca853179300b5b619c0f63ed979f0767&000599

It's just arrived today and now it's in my hands I've realised it's the wrong one. Yes I ordered part number 488745040 and part number 488745040 is what they've delivered to me... but part number 488745040 is not correct for my "Renault Clio 2004 2.0 Petrol". Looking at the pump its inlet is from the little stubby bit on the bottom, whereas the pump on my 182 gets its water from a wider inlet that's on the side (where it pokes through into the washer bottle).

Looking through Eurocarparts website the one they list for the MK2 Laguna ("Renault Laguna 2004 2.0 Petrol") looks like the ones that are on my 182. Eurocarparts part number 488545100.

Whether Eurocarparts will give me my money back remains to be seen. I ordered 488745040 and they delivered 488745040, but 488745040 is not correct for my "Renault Clio 2004 2.0 Petrol". Either way I've learnt a lesson about studying the large images in detail!

So my questions are:

The pump they've sent me, what car is it for? It's definitely not what's on my 2004 182!
Is the pump they list for a Mk2 Laguna what I should buy? I remember that the duff pump on my car has both Renault and Citroen logos on it, so is it a Citroen model I should be buying?

Re: Search Results

Just done some looking around online, loads of similar looking washer pumps on eBay..

The one that my 182 has two of (with the 90 degree inlet) is what Eurocarparts list for the Laguna Mk2, Megane Mk2, and Clio Mk3. For all three cars they list the same part number 488545100 http://www.eurocarparts.com/search/488545100/p/home.

The one they've sent me (488745040) http://www.eurocarparts.com/search/488745040/p/home must be what a normal Clio Mk2 takes, not what the 182s take (extra pump for Xenons = different design).

Bit annoying remembering that aswell as make/model/year the Eurocarparts car selector does actually ask you for the engine capacity & fuel type. They need to change it as a "Renault Clio 2004 2.0 Petrol" is by default going to be a 182 with factory fitted Xenons and consequently two of the 90 degree inlet 488545100 pumps not the 488745040 pump that their site currently says it takes.
