What does everybody weigh

Following on from the discussions on power to weight ratios I was wondering who has the most powerful Clio once you take passenger weight into account?

I myself weigh 11.6 Stone/73Kg.

My car weighs 1035kg (according to official figures)

So 1035+73 = 1108

172/1108 = 0.1552

That gives me a power to weight ratio of 155bhp/tonne!

For reference here are the official weight figures for the 172s. Dont know about valvers etc.

mk1 172 = 1035kg
mk2 172 = 1110kg
Cup 172 = 1021kg

Can you imagine if they made a mk1 Cup 172

I reckon wed be looking at an official weight of 946kg

so with me in that car wed have 168bhp/ton or 121kW/ton

Am I the heaviest at 104kg? About 16st 5lb or about 228lb.?

Im a bit of an athlete so Im not completely blobby...

I sure dont help the old power to weight ratio in my Willy though!

6ft 2 and 13 stone im all man me (well about 90% with the other 10% being a combination of ginsters pasties and booze :devilish:)

me and a mate was working out power to weight ratios.. come up with the following (evidently these figures are not spot on, but near enough)

Clio 172 with a kerb weight of 1035KG, with 172bhp = 166/tonne

Clio Williams with a kerb weight of 980KG with 150bhp = 153/tonne

Clio 1.8 16v with a kerb weight of 980KG with 137bhp = 139/tonne

Honda Integra Type R with a kerb weight of 1120kg with 190bhp = 170/tonne

Pug 106 GTI with a Kerb weight of 950KG with 120BHP = 127bhp/tonne

Damn!!! 0.146!!!! Aaaagggghhhh Blimmin MKII

I might have to start carrying helium around to counter my comfort!!!

While were on the subject of weight who bought a 172 Cup for its weight advantage then filled its boot with car cleaning kit, work tools, gym gear and other crap totally defeating the point of it?

I weigh 66.6781 Kg (10.5 stone)

1035 + 66.6781 = 1101.6781 kg (still less than a mk.2 172!!)

172/1101.6781 * 1000= 156.125 bhp/tonne

Everyone quoting 1035KG for the MK1 is deluding themselves. Renault basically cocked up when it came down to giving out the correct weight figures. The cliosport weighbridge test showed as much. 1100KG for a MK1!

Why do you think the MK2 is every bit as fast as the MK1!!! If there were a nigh on 90KG difference between the cars the MK1 would walk away!

The 1100kg was taken with a full tank of petrol. I think the 1035kg Renault quote is for an empty tank. Also there is some confusion over the weight of mk1s as the early ones came with aluminium bonnets and steel on the later ones which obviously affects the kerb weight.

How do I tell if Ive got an aluminium bonnet or a steel one?

Also is the mk2 weight with a full tank or not?

I came up against a mk2 the other weekend and I was definately pulling ahead of him, not by much but I was...maybe this due to him being heavier than me which is very likely, or maybe he has clown feet and cant get the fun pedal all the way down...

Anyone with easy access to a weighing station, and a mk1 and a mk2 both with full tanks as this could settle the debate

Well a mk1 is lighter and therefore quicker, theres a weighbridge about 30secs from work at the local dump, i dont have a 172 though..

The test has already been done. I think a mk1 and mk2 were tested with full tanks and the mk1 came out at 1100 and the mk2 at 1120.

If you have an aluminium bonnet you will probably know as it is incredibly light. You can lift it with your little finger!
