Wheel refurb + a favour...

Hi guys,

So just wondering whether anyone can recommend any places to take my wheels (and possibly the wheels off my bro's 106 GTi) for a refurb in the Nottingham/Derby area? As close to NG16 as possible.
I'm looking for someone relatively cheap, but good at what they do (maybe not a good mix ;)).

I know there are a few companies knocking around, but I don't want to go anywhere without recommendation, as the last set I had refurbed ended up being a pretty poor job for the cost.

Hopefully, if my 'flower passes it's MOT on Friday, these will be getting done ready for FCS (plus a couple other bits ;)).

This leads me to my next question... If I do get my wheels refurbed, has anyone got a spare set of wheels that they may be willing to lend me for a week or so, whilst they're getting done?! Beer tokens can be up for grabs here :p.

Id appreciate any help!! :)

LW smart repairs, alfreton/south normanton way

And Scott at Autokolor in riddings/leabrooks, He's sprayed toms cars and my cup spoiler. Great work if he can fit you in.

LW are very expensive iirc. Will you drop us a text with that Scott guys number please?? Has he got a website? Is that the old xXx place?

I would take you up on the bike offer mate, but cycling to 35 miles each way to Buxton 3x per week would do me in LOL.

Brum £20 a wheel.
I've been recommended these. Do they actually refurb them or just do the powder coating? My wheels are pretty battered, so will need some work lol.
Also, travelling to Brum will be a ballache with the hours I work. Ill be keeping it on the options list though.
Lol, haven't got his number, drop in and see him mate you know where I mean?
Nope, I don't think I know, unless it's that one on that small road opposite to where Kwik Save used to be?

Leabrooks coop on corner, go towards jacks dale, on the right about 100m-150m from coop there are some pedestrian lights, it's just before these mate, you will see the sign on the wall. Also if you keep going there is a Nisa... Is this the 'kwik save'?

They refurb them in Brum, The first set i sent in were horrendously bad, Massive kurbing & corrosion.

^ No Deal. Don't want any crap wheels on my car :rasp:.

Gonna speak to my brother about taking our wheels down to these whilst he's still got his van, as it'd be ideal to take all 8 rims down to them in one go.

Do not lend this Polish boy wheels.

He has repeatedly threatened to steal my private property.

What sort of turnaround time do they have, out of interest?

If I cant find anyone cheap enough in the Notts/Derby area, then ill probably have to drop them off with them.
Iv'e never been in a rush but it took around 2 days last time, I think if you asked them nicely they might do them quick for you :)

Im in the same boat mate after kerbing an alloy on the 250. Didn't see the neighbours damn step at the side of the house while reversing up the shared driveway

Mick @ Diamond has recommended me a place on the same estate as him, i dont think im going to get chance to try it until next week due to not having a spare wheel and needing to rely on a lift down, but he has quoted £45 per wheel and seems to come highly recommended.

^ I'm still waiting for Mick to text me back about this. I actually text him last week about it, as I knew that he knew someone good. I think his thumbs must be broke... ;)

Hi Harpy

If you go an see Alan Perry garage on Huntingdon Street in Nottingham, he used to do my wheels for £150 and it takes 24hrs too. Really good job aswell.
M&R Finishers in Colwick will powder coat wheels, I was quoted £165 for mine, they would take the tyres off and refit+balance. Not used them but know of alot of people that do and never heard a complaint about em.

Lending you a set though, no can do from here kiddo.

Scott in long eaton is top class (+ my second cousin lol), seen of the work he's done when I was down there once. Awesome.

Cheers for that guys.

John, thanks for those two aswell. The prices you've been quoted seem more like it. Ill give them a try, as they'll both keep me within my budget (I have a couple bits in the pipeline this month to pay for ;) ). Cheers dude!!

Whilst it's of no help at all, there's a place that I can't remember the name of in town that are good although I doubt they fit your budget of £0.00. I've got some Cloverleaf with s**t tyres you can throw on you Cat C.

City powdercoating did mine.. Over the moon. Saved myself £100 and that was including fuel to drop them off and pick them up..

Meh. Ill find someone who is willing to do it for free/exchange of services ;)

Do you actually have some spare rimzz blud?! I would be muchos appreciated if I could borrow them!!

Cheers mate. If I get chance ill pick them up. If not, it'll be after my week away. Ill text (non-pauper spec) you. xx

iirc wheelspecialist are really expensive. Like £300 a set. Id prefer to keep it cheap tbh. Because Polish.

It aint really worth it for a car like this though. Id rather pay half the price and get a half decent job, rather than full whack and expect absolute perfection.

Rang this place earlier. Sound good to me. Between £35-45 per wheel (inc. tyre fit/balance etc), dependant on how badly curbed each one is. If they'll do it me for £150, ill deal with them. Gotta nip up next week for them to see it.

Well i went to ST Auto Bodies yesturday to see Scott, dropping the car off around 10am with him for the wheel refurb (the joys of no spare wheel) but he wasnt impressed with Renaults finish on the matt black wheels making them an odd mix between matt/gloss haha.

I had a nose around his workshop and was pleased to see his restored Mk2 Fiesta XR2i in minty mint condition, 25k on the clocks!

Wheel was done by 4pm and the match was spot on, really pleased and deffinately recommend him :)

I've seen that Fiesta when I went with Mick to pick up a customers wheels. Looks stunning.

Paul if you do go to that place in Nottingham let me know how you get on, still want to get my wheels done in a stupid colour.
