When will reserve light come on ???

hi all, ive had my 2002 ph2 172 for a couple wweks now and ive still not seen the red light come on even when the fuel is barely registering on the gauge!
So its either that the red light is not working or im just too scared to let it get low enough to come on lol when should it come on and what exactly is it that glows up is it the fuel pump symbol in the square on the clocks panel etc cheers again:S

Fuel light comes on (orange) mine comes on just a the trip meter goes 2 25-30 cnt remember

my 1.2's fuel light comes on without fail when the trip says it has 40miles left.

You can check how much the trip reckons is in the tank by switching the ignition on whilst holding down the button on the end of the wiper stalk. this puts the dials into a test mode and if you press the wiper stalk button again you will get a screen with how many litres it reckons is in the tank. give it a shot.

Usually 40 as said, but once the light didn't come on and I ran out ffs!

cheers lads, sounds like im not allowing it to get low enough then lol just going off previous cars gauges i suppose, i wont really be allowing it to hit reserve light anyway but just nice to know its working incase i get caught out sometime really, Must say aswell since buying the 172 a few weeks ago it seems really good on fuel enen when giving it some aswell seems better than my ctr anyway and deffo better than my rs turbo lol

Me neither. I had it down to 23 once though still no light.

just tried this and works spot on it saying i have 23 litres left in tank which sounds about right as its nearly half a tank at mo.
That little trick is mad it makes all dials etc go crazy ie speedo hits 160mph etc lol cheers again all:approve::star:

Same for me. Random figure but it always goes off at 38!
