Which tyres?

Just wondering what one of the better tyre choices are for 15's? I was always going to get some ps3's, but then @Niall mentioned AD08R's.

Just for general all round road use, no track driving.

  A special one.
If say PS3 or 4's then bud.
I love my AD08Rs but I only use my car in the sunshine.

Next door (Ats) said it wasn't, afterwards I'm pretty sure it can be.

Save messing about an ordering a tyre etc I just bought four new ones. Man maths at its finest.

AD08R's for me. Ran them daily before now and they're sound in the rain, and the best road tyre this side of a semi-slick in the dry. They look amazing too.

Only downside of the above is the lower treadwear of 200, as opposed to around 300 with your regular road tyres. Does mean they wear quicker, especially when you like to drive spiritedly.

Michelins above are great tyres though no doubt, just depends what you want.

Are they only 200 yeah, thought they'd be much lower than that. The R1R's are 140. In contrast to a proper track day tyre the Avon ZZS I used at Blyton on Saturday were 20, lol.

Used to be 180 when I had them, but they've put them up to 200 now. But yeah not as low as trackday tyres, still definitely a fast road/track tyre really.

We're coming into winter - semi-slicks will get very 'interesting' in a few months...

Running PS3s here on my car (not a Clio) - very happy so far, seem to grip very well and no snapping away at the limits.

Not a chance would I recommend AD08Rs in the pissing rain on a cold winter's day. I had them only on the front and they were constantly skipping and planing at motorway speeds in the rain

PS3s are a good tyre, so that's what I'd go with.

Lol ditto.

Not sure how fast people want to drive in sketchy conditions, any tyre is sketchy if you're flying along in the rain or snow.

70 is hardly a big ask. Not too big an ask for any other road tyre I've ever used (willingly at least) either.

They probably have just as much tread as PS4's tbh.

Must have been all that face bending torque from your Volvo
True - but I think that being able to emergency stop for something unexpected is nice. lol
Fair enough, I managed to keep it on the black stuff or out for 2 years every day with them on without fault anyway.

I've used them on track in the pouring rain too and didn't have a particular issue. But that's just my experiences with them anyway.

The Volvo doesn't run on PS3s. It runs on PS4s which are better again but not available for the Clio yet.

I've used the two tyres back to back and the wet performance of the AD08R is simply not as good as the PS3. End of. Same for the cold performance. That's OK if you're using them because you want the hot grip, but since the OP isn't doing track days it's pointless going for a borderline trackday tyre and never actually using it in the conditions it's designed to perform best in, when there are better road tyres for driving in the actual situations it IS used in.

Not disputing that at all, no question they're better in bad conditions. But people on here make them out to be lethal, which isn't true.

I should have set up a poll 😂
Either should be better in the wet/dry than the aurora Korean tyres I'm running currently (thanks to the PO). Iirc you can get the ad08rs cheap from a lad on Facebook. It's just whether it'd be cheaper going for them fitted through somewhere like justtyres as I need them balancing etc.

Thanks for all the replies

195's it is  Will ring kwikfit tomorrow, as apparently its possible to get 4 ad08r's for 193.96 fitted. I have the wheels ready to go, so saves them the hassle of removing them from the car so that'll be favourable for them.

I'm hoping itll be straight forward enough as I have an invoice at said price. If not, I will probably get some ps3's for 240 (ish) fitted.

I just can't wait to have a decent tyre on, never run anything but budgets (on the 1.2, or the sport)

That's cheap if it's £190ish fitted!

AD08R's are a decent tyre and grip well but in the wet there not super dooper.

This doesn't bother me and I'm happy to run them all year round. I don't drive like a test in the wet anyway.

Plus they look cool

Spoken to multiple kwik-fits and the best price i can get is £279.96. They refuse to pricematch invoices which is a shame.

Makes sense to just get these though as Ben Patey is £240 delivered tyres only, and for £39 more I save any hassle of finding somewhere to fit them.

AD08R's are epic mate. Just need a bit of heat in them before you drive hard.

I would get defo get AD08R's if i go to15's & like Mark not to bothering about wet conditions as i dont drive like a tit in the wet.
I have S-Drives on the turinis at the moment which im happy with & good value, ive had Rainsport3's which are a very good all round tyre but weak almost wobbly sidewalls & dont look as good as the yokos.
