WhiteLine ARB?

Okay so.. Ive seen alot of people talking about these on here.

Just wondering what they actually do and how much are they?

And are they worth it?

got my 172 a couple months ago and im trying to sort it out, getting my F1's this week then hopefully some coilies after Xmas.

people say ARB's are good but idk what they are / do.

Not 100% on how they work but they sort've do what they say on the tin, reduce body roll, which in turn improves cornering grip and in turn again, improves potential cornering speeds.

I've only ever heard good things about them.

is it possible for them to make it worse in the wet? the only reason i say is that i have one fitted and in the dry i do really feel it doing its job but i have abit of an oversteer problem in the wet and i dont think its all down to the tyres, do people recommend me to take it off for the bad weather or keep it on?

On a Clio the addition of one to the rear, stiffens up the rear axle, which reduces understeer, body roll, and makes the car feel sharper/turn in easier (esp in the dry).
They go for about £160 new.
Most people that got them rate them highly. there is however some that the stiffer rear doesn't suit their driving style/preferences (a rear ARB can make the back end twitchier which for some is a problem).
Change one thing at a time, that way you'll know which one has improved things and which one hasn't!!!

it also help's the flex on the rear axel, which FYI is very flexable, i believe there is a video on here somewhere, i'd do a search there's alot on ARB's on here

Makes a massive difference imo, and well worth the money! Not 100% sure how they work, but i do know it really tightens the rear end up and i can corner alot faster

So do people just put them on the Rear or front aswell?

What like are they to fit? Difficult?

Would it be best to get the coilies first then ArB? And lastly, do you Have to have coiliess or can you fit them with springs?

they can be fitted to whatever suspension mate, their easy to fit , takes around half an hour

The Clio already has a front ARB.

The rear ones just bolt to the bottom of the shock, so it doesn't matter what suspension you have they will fit.

In simple terms, they tie the rear wheels together in such a way that one sides suspension will have reduced travel if the other side isn't also compressing. I.e. if you go round a left corner, the right rear suspension wants to sink while the left rear wants to expand. Tying them together means the right sinks less while the left expands less, and the net result is reduced body roll at the rear. This in turn reduces understeer.

A photo of mine working hard. Its the additional metal bar between the bottom of the 2 sides of the rear suspension. There is flex in the bar to stop the rear axel being made to rigid.

I've just been having a quick look on the net and it would appear that there are a lot of whiteline products, such as sway bars, fixings, accesories etc.

The issue is supply. They have suddenly become quite popular with the RS Clio scene, so demand has risen massively. Whiteline are an Australian based company so getting them to the UK means shipping them on a boat. Companies don't tend to order that many in for stock so they sell out quickly. Last time I checked Deamon Tweaks had pre sold all the batch currently being shipped, and most of the next scheduled shipment too.

You can find them if you search around though. You can do what I did and just drop an email to every single Whiteline stockist in the UK (theres a list on the Whiteline website) asking if they have one, and how much. The part number is BRR10Z - Sway Bar for Clio Mk2 (excluding V6).

i have one on my ph1. probably the best and cheapest mod u can fit that actually makes a difference u can feel to the car. really tightens up the cornering, feels much sharper, proper go kart now. highly recommended.

Best thing I ever bought for my clio, all 3 clios infact. Have a look on balance motorsport, it explains the reduction of load on particular wheels when cornering which in turn improves overall grip, reducing understeer and giving better turn in

Got mine on here for 120 and fitted it last week, it is so worth the ££'s! Back end feels so much more planted in the corners, have a lot more confidence in it now, even in the wet.

I've had mine on for a week. Biggest difference so far: One roundabout on way to work that has a sharp 1m fall at the apex. Normally all tyres squeal if I'm pushing thru and car drifts a foot or so sideways as the road drops away. Or if I deliberately lift off at apex then back will swing slightly as well as above.

So far this week I can't raise the slightest squeal, drift, or lift-off oversteer. She just tracks thru. Have to up the pace a bit and keep trying.

Are they adjustable? Mne doesnt seem to be screwed in as far as others and as a result it hangs lower? Does screwing in further make any difference?

and after removing and going back to the tripod action in the cup i now would not say the above as i actually prefer it without
