Windows XP Pro

I have just installed windows XP onto a new harddisc and the certain keyboard strokes mean different things than they say they should.

E.g. to get an @ sign I must press the " button.

I cannot even get a pound sign.

Anyone any ideas how to rectify the situation?

yer, you have the us layout instead of the UK, go to start > control panel > Regional and language options > languages tab and then under "Details" change it to UK layout.

Delete the US keyboard and language settings as sometimes it likes to revert!
