I just bought some of that wonder wheels stuff to try on my cup 172 as even with hard scrubbing and jetwash I cant get the brakedust off. I want them to look like new again ...

Yes its very strong ive been told, some peeps wont touch the stuff.

If that doesnt work, nothing will!

Be very careful not to splash any on your paint work.

I found on my old Clio that I was flicking small bits of it on the paint, I was also making the mistake of doing all four wheels before swilling them off.

As a result I had little yellow spots on the paint (silver) around the wheel arches like you get when birds sh1t has damaged it.

Now I gently do a wheel and take care not to splash. Once a wheel is done the first thing I do is hose all around the wings etc to dilute and wash off any that got on the paint work then spray the wheel clean.

Works a treat and no damage to wheel or paint so far. Definitely the most effective wheel cleaner bar none.

Yes with a few applications.

But naturally it wont do anything about the damage from curbing and if you have been scrubbing hard as you say you could well have scratched the wheels a fair bit. The good thing about wonder wheels is that you use a gentle motion to remove the dirt.

Tis very good but use it once and then wax your wheels so you can clean them in future with just soapy water.

You can also water it down.

If you prefer the acid free approach. Autoglym Engine and machine cleaner works a treat. Autoglym Tar remover and Meguiars Quick Clay also work well on hard to remove brakedust.

I use it, youve just gotta be careful not to splash anything else. It also works well on those White cooper S wheels.

wow, i couldnt resist not knowing the outcome so i went and done all 4 wheels... its done a real good job, you just brush it on and the caked on brakedust crap just dissolves off. still got these little dark spots in the corners it wont remove but its done a better job than scrubbing imo.
