would high mileage put you off

Depends on how it's been maintained etc & if it's had the work done it may have needed (new clutch) cambelt etc, etc.

- ah cambelt is non applicable on them.

If the cars in great condition & runs great why not, i'd consider it.

Wouldn't bother me depends how its running.

I know loads of 100k car + cars without any issue often better than low milage cars.

71k isn't huge milage for a 51 plate though.

Deciding factors for me: Is the service history good (most important) It'll want a cambelt done at 72k so has it already been done? Nowt wrong with a high miler if it's got a fsh and has been well looked after.

  none :(
it doesnt say anything about sh but i could check it out, will i have any major problems if it doesnt have fsh

There seems to be an obsession in uk with low mileage cars.

A well maintained high mileage car is usually better than a low mileage school run/shopping trolley that never sees normal working temperature.

Ive bought high mileage ex fleet/lease cars in past with no problem.

In fact two of them are now owned by friends. A Peugeot 406 now 187000 and a Vectra 220000. No major problems with either.

Chain cam engine so no belts I'm sure.

Well depends I've known cars never been serviced in there lives so no service would mean I'd way well away unless you'r just after a shell for a different engine etc.

what if it has part history

sorry for the questions i havnt brought a car in 4 years lol

IMO no proof of servicing means its not been done.

I'm even war of stamps in general since there enough copy cat stamps etc or people just stamping books anyway without servicing.

  R5gtt, 182, volvo...
nothing wrong with high miles on many cars so long as theres a good fshistory.. if things have been replaced then theres not much to worry about.. my 5gtt has got 150k on the clock with a fRsh and it runs sweet as a nut, original engine, gearbox, and headgasket unless it was done on the sly..

Vdubs, audis, volvos, bmws and just about any car like that will roll past 200k with ease with a fsh..

  53 Clio's & counting
if it helps mate my 172's not far off 100k now and fingers crossed runs lovely, got f/s/h with it and it has been well looked after, and there is no performance difference between mne and my mates 61k 172 :)

  182 has now gone!
As long as it had full service history and the cambelt had been changed, it wouldnt put me off buying a high mileage car.. A friend of mine bought a A3 a few years back with high mileage.. it was a company car before but had main dealer history and he has no probs with it... :)

I wouldnt bother about high miles, if its been well looked after. My dad has a A4 on a 53' Plate and it has 86k on it and it runs like new. He has never had a problem as it has always been serviced by Audi

  Less
my bro in law has just bought an 04 reg Extreme for less than £4k as it had 60K+ on the clock.

  Mondeo 2.0LX & Volvo V50
Wouldn't bother me.

My Dad just sold his 51 reg BMW 525i SE. He bought it with 60k on and sold it last week with 132k! Drove and looked like 32k. Bought my Mrs a Clio from the auction with 87k on and it's now done 113k. T-reg. We paid £1400 for it Nov '04 and it's still going strong so I think we've had our money's worth from it. It's only a 1.2 base spec mind.

  Pajero 3.8 V6
I bought my passat with 142k on it, its now got 160k on it. Gives me a hell of a lot less less hassle than the clio does with 73k on it!!!
