Xenon headlight issues

Hi

Just got a 172 2003 and tonight I noticed one of the dipped headlights has stopped working fully.

Its the o/s one and when I switch it on it lights up but stays a lot dimmer than the n/s one and remains a dull blue colour for about a minute then goes off completely, the side light has also stopped working on the o/s but full beam and fog light stills works ok.

Has anyone come across this before? Any idea what it could be?

I'd try swapping the ballast and igniter's over to see if it does it the other side, if so you know its not the lamp.
If it's the lamp dying get a new pair www.hids-direct.co.uk D2s's are the ones you want 4300k is the most OEM look.

Cheers il give it ago tomorrow night and see, the igniter is on the back f the bulb, but where abouts is the ballast? Ty are quite hard to get to, do I need to remove the headlight housing? Cheers

Igniter is the bit on the back of the lamp. The ballast is screwed to the underside of the headlamp unit - it's easier to take the bumper off and remove the headlamp to get to the ballast pack.
