Took this out of Nashys 182 on monday, after him bitching about an annoying wheel bearing noise..

I was expecting it to be quite worn but i didnt expect it to come out in different bits!

I never went in your 1.4.

Mine is making a noise at the moment but thought it might be brake related as my brakes squeal as well.

Like a humming, Will. Which increases with speed. You can easily tell its not the exhaust by disengaging the clutch and seeing if its still there. Also, swerving from side to side a bit indicates which side is fecked.

Yup got a bit of swearving which I put down to tracking. Might get the bearing checked out.

No, he meant if you swerve from side to side, you can hear which side makes more of a noise as you put pressure on that wheel. If you have a problem with the car tramlining that will be down to alignment.

If it's rear bearings that have gone, just replace the discs. Front bearings become a little more of a pain.

Must've whined like a pig in a shredder!

It was horrific lol

Stupid question. What sort of whining does a f**ked bearing make?

Well it's more of a dull drone that gets louder the faster you go. I swear you were in my 1.4 once when I had mine go?

This^

It can also get louder the faster you go depending on how bad it is

Your telling me, everything was seized on this, it took 7 tonne of pressure to get that bearing outa the hub!

Deffo isn't the rear as I have just put new discs in.

Oh in that case I'l just sort the problem with the front brakes first and see if the noise goes.

Find a straight bit of quiet road, and as rob says just drift from one side to the other, it will get louder/more droany when more pressure is put on the bearing thus telling you which side it is :)
