Hello Chaps, I'm going to try and drop my petrol tank tomorrow, I've got the BG nearly sripped underneath , ie exhaust / heat sheilds off , Also dropped the rear beam today, I'm giving the BG a bit of TLC that it desperately needs, Also i've got bumbers off, plus wings and sill covers, inside the BG is also stripped, for rear quarter treatment, How easy is it removing the petrol tank , With high pressure fuel lines and s**t ? Is there anything i should know before going at it.....Thanks lads.

Thanks Rob. just didn't want to f**k anything up pulling high pressure lines of the fuel sender, i'm guessing it's just a unplug jobby . I want to drop the tank so i can underseal you see, and treat up in the arch / behind the fuel flap, which looks abit sketchy.....Cheers again Rob. good man.

Yeah been looking at them today, tbh they don't look to bad to be fair, I'm pretty well chuffed how it's all seems okish under there..Only got one tiny bit of paint bubbling on the drivers side rear arch. I'll check the fuel cap jobby out tomorrow., Brake pipes are goosed so after a beam refresh i'll throw some braided lines on.

The fuel line just pops off. It’ll throw a bit of fuel out but nowt too serious.

As above, highly recommend doing it with the tank empty. It’s amazing how f**king heavy they are when they have fuel in!

4 bolts to drop it. If the brake lines and the handbrake cables are already out the way it’s easy enough as long as the bolts play ball

Well tank can of pretty easy , bar one snapped stud, the biggest shocker was finding a big rotten hole under the arch above the fuel filler, so all chopped out and ready for welding up, the arch was like tin foil, But the outter rear quarter and around the petrol cap area ,is in good nik....So good bases to spot weld too, I'll weld it up in two sections....I'm more than confident i'll sort that..Seem as i spend most of my nights watching Yorkshire Car restoration.Lol, I might even put a little gromet in , so i can cavity wax it after welding, Then underseal over the gromet. And the snapped stud for the petrol tank, i'll just drill and retap the.

Pictures please
I don't have a phone to take pictues with, i got sick of the mobile about 5/6 yr ago so fucked it off..But i can use my mates phone, I'll get a few tomorrow, but it'll only be showing what i've chopped out and started preppin, It'll take me a good few hours bending and shaping the sheet metal, think it's about 0.9-1mm, But i'll bung more up has i'm going along.
