That black one looks ace!!

Cheers mate. Was a great car to own.

Bet you miss that BG.

And yeah, i can do that for you Mark. I'll have to do it when I find time, but don't mine giving it a go for you.
Have to get @LeeRS to print them for you FOC.

Sometimes, when i see pics of it. But then i always look at yours and Lee's to get my fix!

wow what a job, looks epic so far...

Thanks @Lewigi_69 Its getting there!

The BG with lows and the the 2118's, that is an absolute cracker - like the bullets too! How come you sold that Mark?

Its a great combination that works well!

I had a PH1 itch that needed scratching. Sold this to a chap in scotland who flew down and then 6 weeks later i bought a ph1.... from scotland and flew up!

Looks lovely there!

It looks so wet and slick.
Got to love fresh paint ?

Oh yes my friend.

Yeah baby!!!! ???

Yeah indeed!!

Wowza. Looks seriously good. And it’s making me want to start on the 172 now. Damn you ?

I hold no responsibility! It's taken some man hours so far though, so worth it seeing paint being added now.

Got more bits painted on the RB tonight.

Excellent, although this will be the beginning of big bucks, once the paint is mint you will be chasing the dragon for the rest of the car to be mint, from a new shiny handbrake cable to a new shiny lambda sensor.

well this has taken a MASSIVE leap since I was last in here!!!!!

Jesus it looks so good when its naked in them sunset photos!

won't be long no though and it'll be back together!

Thanks bud.

This is still my only car so once it's all back together, it'll be back to the duties of being used daily. I've been using my wife's cars and riding to work while the work has been getting done (2 months now) but it's getting darker earlier so she'll have her car back (she's been walking as her job is 1.5 miles away) and I'll be driving the RB again.

We are in the middle if buying a property so after this is done, it'll take a back seat as such for to the property project.

I'm a realist. I know it's going to get chipped, scratched, etc, but I'm not in a position to have 2 cars, so this will be used and driven on a daily basis, just fresher looking.

Hopefully mate. We are away in Portugal next week so trying to get the big bits done beforehand. Will (painter) said he'll do the little bits while I'm away so it's just a case of cutting up when I'm back and then flatting and polishing. In theory.

Yeah I was done with the shuts and the sun was awesome that night so it would have been rude not to get the sunset pics. I think they came out really good.

Looks awesome Mark - what a great finish!

What’s the plan for the paint code sticker you removed from the drivers door shut - get a repro made up or just leave it?

Can’t wait to see it IRL when it’s all back together!

I know mate. He said he'd get a good finish as you can't really polish in there and he has!

I've spoken to @LeeRS about the sticker. I'll hold fire until he can or can't do one and then I'll look further into it.

Wings fitted loosely this morning. Those shuts look amazing!

Brilliant. Getting a perfect finish in the areas where polishing is almost impossible once assembled is bang on - and way better than the factory to boot. Nice one.

100% agree. This is why he did it. I never even thought about it till after they was painted and he mentioned it. Glad he did it.

I want it.

You have the same wheels so your halfway there!

Coming along nicely

It certainly is now!

Really impressive painting there Mark!

Indeed it is Ant. He has done great work and i'm very happy so far. This is even without flatting and polishing, so it'll look better after that.

I wouldn't want to drive it after it's done if I were you!

Have to mate. Not getting a 2nd car. This will be used as before. No volvo for me.

It is for sale <3 ?

Haha, it seems that projects get done then weeks later they go up for sale so watch this space.

(I'm joking btw!)

Looks f-ing amazing!

Can't wait to see it.

I'm massively jealous!

It does mate, and its not even done yet. I have to say, im well impressed/happy!

Well this has come along very nicely, that finish looks amazing!! More good photos for the resto album too!

Steve, i currently have 1766 pics of this car in my flickr album, and thats from april 2016! I think its fair to say i have a few!

I fillered the center caps too as they have a little indent in them as standard and i wanted them flat in the middle. I just have to find a bright white to match my white 2118's but its hard to find the colour. Mine was slightly creamy and i want it bright white.

And this morning we got the boot painted.

The plan is to fit the doors after work and possibly the bonnet too. Fully fit the wings if we have time. And i think we may get a few more bits painted in between that but we will see what we are like for time and energy. Then Will is going to paint the rest while im away. Good stuff!

Bits left to paint are:

Front bumper
Washer blanks
Fuel cap
Door handles (possibly)
Side mouldings
Boot badge housing
Spoiler
Wing mirror caps

Im also after some new side badges as im having a change in colour and i rubbed my old ones down, but the lettering decided to chip off in 2 places. Only small, but enough to notice. I was thinking of doing them Polaris grey but Will has suggested to go for a bright silver as it'll look fresh next to the fresh RB paint. Im tempted i must admit.

De-masked it and got out this morning. Had to take a couple of pics!

It looks so smooth and perfect there. It'll look awesome when it's put back together mate. For the bullits how about some gris titane (697 titanium to us!) as it's a lovely metal shade and sparkly too??

Thanks Paul. It'll look much better once it's flat and polished. It feels good now seeing bits painted and going back on. Still a few hours to do though, but at least the worst bits are done now.

I like that grey too. Looks darker than titanium in the pic?

Ordered another pair of 2nd hand bullets today for painting. Should be here in the next few days and then i'll decide what colour to do them.

After work we stayed on and got the doors, bonnet and wings fully fitted. The door catches, door looms and interior light sensors fitted. Boot rubbers, door rubbers and door seals fitted also.

Then grabbed a few pics as it was getting dark.

The shuts are perfect and it all looks good. I have somehow deleted all my removal pics from when i stripped the car so its going to be a bit of guessing. Im not happy with with the wing bolts so i will look into getting some of those but other than that, its all good.

Thanks guys.

It's hard fitting up now as things take longer due to being cautious with the newly painted panels.

It does feel good knowing that we are bolting bits on now. Still got a fair way to go. It's also highlighted a few things that will need to be sorted after it's all back together. A few that spring to mind is the wing bolts that are mentioned above. I'm sure I can source another load from somebody breaking. Doesn't even need to be a sport.

Secondly, I've scuffed the rear glass when I was using the DA. It's only at the bottom and most people probably wouldn't notice it, but I do. I will try and look into sorting this out but being on glass, I'm unsure how good it'll be.

Thirdly, the rear quarter glass seals have got bits of RB on them. Although we did the best we could when we masked it up (we lifted up the seal and taped from behind) some has got through. This isn't really and issue as I'm sure a small brush of black will see that gone. It's just another thing to do, post fitting up.

I still have my gearbox leak. Once it's all fitted up, and we move into our place, I may look into getting a spare engine and gearbox and doing both up over time. This is long term, but I just get reminded when I see a patch of gearbox oil on the floor. It would be nice to refresh a spare engine and gearbox with new parts and paint.

Fourth, my engine paint has chipped/flaked in a few places. This was another reason to do the above, but I probably will just repaint the inlet and other bits when I get a spare moment.

I'm missing the some wing clips (well actually both broke) so I'll need to sort some new ones out. Anybody know what these are actually called?

We go on holiday as of Wednesday, so that's it for me now for working on the RB. Got day off tomorrow but not doing RB work. Will has said he will get some more bits painted while I'm away so if I get pics of work being done in the next week or so, then I will update in here.

Been off the clio for a week or so. Will did mention that while i was away the booth was busy and he needed to sort out his motorbike (He's not obliged to do work on my car while im not there and work does come first) so no more had been done since the last pics.

Portugal was nice and it was good to have a week off. It was needed for both of us. Was awesome swimming in the sea at 7am and watching the sunrise too.

I got back to work thursday and we stayed on in the evening to paint a few more bits.

We decided to use the original cap for now as it needed no primer. The new one comes unprimered and it was only the mechanism that was broken which needed replacing. Plus this has the stickers on the inside which are no longer available. Im still going to keep the new cap, just in case but there was noting wrong with this ones and it meant it could go RB with the other bits.

While Will was painting, i took apart my door handles and gave them a quick prep. They was actually decent condition and i thought about just polishing them up, but we have the paint so makes sense for them all to colour match.

I decided a while back to go wiperless, but i left the hole in the spoiler and im just going to add a grommet in there. I didn't want to take the risk of adding filler in the hole. You don't really see it as its curved round so less work that needed to be done.

Very happy with the results. The front bumper and spoiler especially look slick. The spoiler had been painted in the past but not that great and i had scuffed the front bumper, and it had stone chips and grazes, so now it looks ace. He also got it looking really smooth around the fog light areas and the strip/grill under the badge, on the hard to reach to polish areas.

Then last night, i stayed behind and gave my headlights a polish with the mop. I did 2000, then 3000 on a trizac pad, then green, yellow and blue polish. They have come up great. I didn't think they was that bad at all but wanted them looking fresh next to the new paint work. You can see on the comparison, that it looks better. They are not "brand new" looking and still have imperfections, but they are 14 years old so that's to be expected but they look great now i think.

Original on the right, not that bad tbf.

Have also bought a new DA from @Craig which came super quick. Great to deal with, thanks mate. Ive never got into detailing, or even car cleaning as such as i always do stuff by hand. (Apart from the headlights above!) This will be a great way to start and keep on top of the new paintwork. And a good learning curve for me.

45104165461_072fe664d0_z.jpg

43290292790_568df30f82_z.jpg

Have just ordered the "Kill all wipers" glass for the rear. It looks a nice looking kit, and i will fit it if i dont like my wiper blank. I feel my wiper blank should be textured black, but haven't got any. I will fit both and see what i prefer and sell the one i dont use.

Im going to look into getting some new plates made up too. The front has always been too small (85mm x 520mm) so im looking at getting 90-94mm if i can. I'll get a new rear, just so i have new clean plates. They will be plain too.

Going to buy these too once they come back in stock. The output is better than what i have, so im thinking the will be a brighter white. I will order the 5500k temp.

That's all for now, but more will come.

Great job in the headlights. Think the replacement bulbs would be awesome if they throw off more light. Good job on buying the DA, if only I didn’t have my eyes on a drone!
I’ve always liked the standard colour on the bullets, be interesting to see what you end up choosing.
I’ve used proplates for mine, they’ve been pretty good and will cut to any size.
The weather is going to turn soon, you’ve got to get it finished!

Thanks mate. The headlights always make these cars look so much better from a polish/refresh.

I'm in no rush for the bulbs and there not hard to change so it'll wait for now. Although, I do have a few spare 5000k bulbs so I might revert back to this as I don't like my colour output on these 6000k one's.

I saw that you wanted a drone, so I thought I'd grab the opportunity seen as you didn't want it. Was too good a deal to miss I thought and came at the right time for me.

I have just ordered the new plates. I got them from Fancy plates and have ordered 520mm x 94mm front, and the standard 520mm x 111mm for the rear, both just plain.

I know. I'm hoping that it's a few weeks away now. I have insurance renewal this month so it would be nice to get it on the road for then.

Looking good mate. If you need bulbs I can do you a good deal on some ?

I did see you had some. I'll be honest, I don't want to spend loads of money just yet. As mentioned above, I have some spare 5000k one's which I'll put in as I don't like my 6000k bulbs. But I may hit you up at a later date if I change my mind.

Fantastic work again Mark, glad the holiday went well too!

Thanks Steve.

All that needs to be painted now is:

Door handles
Boot catch surround
Washer blanks
Wing mirror covers
Spare fuel cap
Side bullets
Center caps
