BG 182 rear brake lines

Hello Chaps , Just putting the feelers out to see what you lads use , on replacing your rear metal brake lines, And i'm guessing Renault don't do them anymore, So just tryna get an idea of what else, I don't fancy using copper pipe, Am i right in thinking you can't use copper brake pipes , with ABS ? , Sure i heard that somewhere the other day.

Ok so copper lines are fine to use, I'm on with a rear beam refresh soon, so need to do my brake lines also, Mine are corroded to death and look like there gonna give way pretty soon, Anyway big thanks Rob.

No worries, the rear lines are pretty exposed to salt and dirt etc, most at this age need doing of have been done. Enjoy, I've got some pictures somewhere i'll post in a mo

Thats the BRT kit which was great quality and not horribly expensive. (y)

Look's tidy with the braided line/s ...Been freshing the BG up, wings off...bumpers off...sill covers off..back seats out , check and waxoil the inner rear arches, Front carpet out after the heater matrix gave way and seemed to off filled the foot wells up with coolant, , Luckily floors were in mint condition still, So yeah back to the brake lines, Thanks chaps.

I've never used steel brake lines but have flared a new fitting into an existing steel line and my tools were not happy at all!

Copper was a walk in the park compared 😂

I bought one of the £200 kits for single din flares of larger lines, lets just say after trying it out its sat in the corner of the unit ever since lol. I don't know what oem use for flaring single din 1/4 and 5/16 lines but I need it!

You can use copper with ABS just fine.

I used a kit from BRT which replaced all of the rear lines with braided.

Just had a brake line split and end my day at Blyton early.

Which kit do I need to get to replace the whole rear hard lines with braided?

I have braided hoses to the caliper already and they are fine.

Probs the flexi joiners between the beam and the shell or might be the hardline across the beam which always seem to corrode where they rub in the mounts.

Right behind one of the clips that runs across the rear beam.

Had just put AR1 on to go full send after using an old set of NS2R which were absolutely horrendous but epic fun at the same time. Tyre squeal was horrific!

Only noticed the leak when I put the jack under to swap the wheels over otherwise I would’ve been out on track with a big dirty leak.

Still enjoyed the rest of the day and glad it’s done it now and not at Anglesey next month.

I’ll get that kit, cheers 👍

With this “rear” full kit replacement some of you are mentioning. What other lines would there be to replace? Something running from rear to front and then front also?

They are but if I can replace the whole shebang of lines, ignoring what is there already before I double check what else would I need?

Ideally from BRT so I can order it all in one go.
Sorry I meant front brakes, not front section of rear lines. If you use the BRT kit there is nothing else to braid at the rear iirc. Its then just centre hard lines to the new braided section.

You need the link above which replaces all of the rear lines, then you need a set of front calliper braided lines also from BRT - job done.
Do you need, rear braided lines, front braided lines and rear axle hose? So all 3 separate items and that would be everything to replace the full lot?

Bud just look at the pictures above.

The BRT kit replaces ALL the rear flexi lines and hardlines.

From here back gets completely replaced using the BRT kit. Goes from that green brake hardline (which is just before the rear beam) to the calliper.

Thats the rear of the car sorted.

The front of your car has a brake line for each of the front wheels - you can buy multiple kits that let you sort the front callipers, I'm sure BRT sells such a kit.

In total you end up with 4 hoses only,

Front left calliper, front right calliper, rear left, rear right - the BRT kit replaces the little jumpers between the body and the beam as per the images.

:ROFLMAO: I found the picture I took a while ago to show I just ran my lines straight to the calipers rather than through the holes in the beam. But I would ran them through the holes with the grommet for a cleaner look if I were to do things again, I wouldn't destroy the car if I could start again..

Out of interest, is there a kit that takes you from abs pump to front braided lines, in braided?

Just thinking outside the box to whether I can remove all hardliners and swap to braided that’s all.

There are full kits yeah, Proline do them but I personally wouldn't bother.

They may even be an internally routed kit the ones I've seen.
