V- MAX coilovers

fad

  Clio 182 FF
90% of the people that have tried them, that I've read on here, are negative about them, usually about the damping.

Look I am not here to argue but I would say only a handfull of people have complained about them and then everyone jumped on the bandwagon.

I was looking into the full coilover set and have actually been out in a cup packed Clio 182 with these fitted. They are fully damping and height adjustable.

Ride was compliant and smooth and compared to my sportlines there was nothing in it.

I really really think people need to stop listening to the loud mouths on here who's vocabulary does not expand past the words Yozzasport, H&R and AST

GAZ - hum, tough one really

all the ones i've looked after have been a bit of a pain

had to file out the holes to get them on, and then spend ages c**king about with ride heights/damping etc to get it to handle at an optimum level

they're quite decent on track, not not the best on road, but then again GAZ don't have the R&D budget of the big name german companies!

it depends on budget too, GAZ fit a certain price range/quality/performance part of the market which is great, but in terms of all round road and track performance they're not on par with zee germans IMO, i think if GAZ market their stuff as "track day" they'd be more popular. Generally 90% of cliosport are road users and have never seen a track, whereas if they aimed at the 10% of "track day warriors" they'd be recieved well. but do you see why H&R's prove so popular? they can do both road and track well

i'm going off on a bit of a rant here, but i've already aired my views on AST which are generally claimed to be the top dog suspension for a clio on here, they're not IMO, could be perfect if they sorted the front spring/damper rate

fad i maybe one of the so called "loud mouths" on here, so forgive me! Yozzasport (Andrew) knows his stuff when it comes to clios and suspension, when i was there we used to sell GAZ stuff, but due to various issues (main one being having to file out the holes etc) we had a lot of problems with customers complaining about them, and hence we decided to stop selling them, that was the only reason, when you've shipped stuff overseas that doesn't fit it gets awkward!

mini-valver

You should add the tiny cap heads in the AST topmount into your rant too. Fitted some the other day and they really dont look very strong!

That aside though, they have quality casings and I thought the ride was spot on, even after just being thrown on and set to the middle....

if these v-max coilovers are that good for value I would be interested in another group buy if others are?

  Mk6 Fiesta Zs

  Charged Superleggera

Is there anyone in the midlands with these? Wouldn't mind a ride in a car with these on.

  Charged Superleggera
yes just checked and its the 182 cup thats they dont do. however they do the 172 cup

is the bolt spacing the same on a 182 cup as a cup packed 182 (ff)? not to clear on this really.

  b/g 182, meg tourer
will that end up costing as much as a different brand of coilover that fits without changing the hubs tho?

i have always thought that 182 cup is different from a cup packed 182.
Nope, exactly the same chassis. Standard 182 is different, the cup packed cars have different hubs. I'd imagine a set of 2nd hand 172 hubs would be fairly cheap, couldn't be sure though.

  Clio 172
I've just PMed slammed172 to see if he'd be willing to help with the group buy seen as he has previous experience.

  Coilovered Clio Dynamique
I'm really glad I took the risk and went for these on the group buy, would reccomend them to anyone, excellent kit!
