It was a mobile auto electrician who came to the garage, sorry not sure just what part of the ignition loom was corroded, still took the sparky over 2 hours to track it down though!
I've got no issues with the garage, they're only a small, local, one man band in a very rural area, can't exactly...
Just a final update for anyone who might be interested.... turns out it was 2 entirely separate and unrelated issues that just happened to manifest themselves at the same time!
The SERV, ESP and ABS lights are the steering angle sensor.
The cutting out/not starting was some corroded wiring in...
Further update - Still not sorted, doesn't appear to be battery, alternator, or crank shaft sensor, no faults showing up on the garages OBD reader, no obvious loose wiring connections... garage suggesting it might be the ECU, which I'm guessing wouldn't be economically viable to get replaced...
Again, thanks very much for all the replies, I really appreciate it.
I'll definitely look at the battery/alternator as my first option, my only query with either of them is surely they wouldn't cause it to cut out whilst actually driving? Or would they?
EML light is going out.
Something else I've noticed.. if I turn the ignition to position 2 and wait to see if the lights go out (which they don't) then give the key a further turn to try and start it, it won't turnover at all, just a click. But if I turn it from off straight to position 3...
Thanks for the replies, update... It's back to not turning over at all now and the following lights all stay on -
STOP IMMOB SERV ESP BATTERY OIL
Also put a cheapy generic OBD reader on it and that came back as no fault codes stored.
Does that narrow things down or just complicate...
As per the title really, these last few days the SERV, ESP and ABS lights have been staying on or coming on and the car has cut out a couple of times but I've been able to restart it immediately, however this morning the car cut out whilst driving along but wouldn't restart despite about 30 mins...
The shitty after market HID dipped beams are more trouble than they're worth on my 04 182 and I want to convert them back to standard.
Can anyone point me in the right direction for what connector I need for the standard bulbs once I've removed the HID ballast?
Thanks!
Was just about to start a thread as I've also got a 182 with a Paddling Pool in the passenger side front and rear footwells and under the seat...
Car doesn't have a sunroof and all door and window seals seem dry, roof lining seems dry underside of the dashboard and bulkhead are dry.
From what...
Considering how common Renaults/Renaultsports are I was pretty miffed after I bought my 182 and then realized there isn't a decent indie specialist somewhere reasonably local to the Manchester area... as others have already said the 2 nearest are Diamond Motors in Notts and Birchdown in...
Oh well I called in at the garage this morning and explained my findings on here.. and the mechanic insisted it wasn't the wrong size ABS ring that he fitted, said if anything its something to do with the replacement rear disk/bearing as the old one was apparently very wobbly and this could have...
Yeah I know it's their problem but to be honest the guy is a bit of an arrogant t*****r and I don't think he's going to just hold his hands up and admit he's made a mistake unless I can get pretty solid proof of what he's done wrong.
I certainly trust Fred's word about the size difference but...
After looking at a few more threads on here on the subject of 182 ABS rings there seems to be some confusion... some threads are saying you can't buy just the ABS ring for the 182 and it has to be a whole new driveshaft?? others are saying the rings are available but must be the 44 teeth ones...
