New toy - Nissan Silvia Turbo S12 1985

  Racing Blue 182
Not been around on here for a while, but just over a week ago I managed to get my hands on my new weekend toy so thought I would show it off.

It's a 1985, Nissan Silvia with 68k miles. The last owner has owned it for 20 years and only driven it 5k in the last 10 years, keeping it serviced, MOTd and running it round the block.

He has had it in his garage, but decided now was a the time to give it up and through random chat at the gym, my dad managed to bag me a bargain.

From my research, there are only 6 manual versions from this year (the phase 1 version) left on the road. They hardly ever come up for sale as there is so few of them.

The car is mechanically great and is in good overall condition, with just the odd mark and some rust to the arches.

Anyway, here are some pictures.

Not seen one of those for aaages!! Not just a turbo, any! Used to see a few around back in the day, anyway that looks a cracking example and nice and original..... very retro indeed inside but that's all good!

Thanks everyone. Got an absolute bargain on it, the guy was planning on scraping it, he obviously didn't know what he had.

No plans for it as want to keep it totally original and sell it on as is at some point in the near future.

If I was keeping it, I'd have it sat on the 9 inch wide 15s on extremely low coilovers, but I can't bring myself to modify it.

It's a great drive and even with only 130bhp, the turbo makes it feel pretty fast.

Why on earth would you sell that?? That's a guaranteed pension pot in 10-20 years time! If you got if for a bargain, I'd be storing it sharpish and forgetting about it. (After you've driven it for the summer obviously)

As if he was going to just scrap it!!!! :fearscream: but like you said, probably doesn't know what it is now, just saw it as an old car he'd had his time with not worth much. But good stuff keeping it standard, it looks too original to chop about when you said there is so few left on the road. 130bhp was a decent figure back in 1985, would have been keeping up with the RS Turbo's and R5 GT Turbo's :grimacing:

So tonight I spent a quick half an hour cleaning the engine bay. Needs a lot more work, but already looks a lot better.

Also took some pics of the underneath so you can see the condition.

As the sun was shining, I took her out for a drive and took a few pictures. The car is pretty dirty, but I think she still looks good.

Slowly falling in love with it, but need to be careful I don't clock up the miles too quickly.
