My car failed it’s MOT due to a failing drivers side driveshaft. The garage found it difficult to get hold of a driveshaft, however a few days later it was fixed.
Having a poke about underneath the car tonight as it’s been feeling slightly loose/wallet at the front end I noticed the new...
Whilst jacking my car up I noticed the item in the photo appeared to be not attached to the vehicle structure. There is a hole in the frame where I assume a bolt, but etc... is fitted.
Popped to renault and the part itself and attaching parts were not listed/populated against my car.
So, does...
Hi
Does anyone have any tips or advice regarding the fitment of the half shell replacement seals that come with gearbox selector repair kits?
I’ve purchased the FEBI 47222 kit as an interim measure to reduce the selector oil leak whilst I sort a reconditioned gearbox our.
I know it comes...
Hi,
I’ve had my car for read and it’s identified the osr ABS sensor is faulty
I rang Renault to source the part only for them to inform they have no stock and Renault have just discontinued this item
So, does anyone know if any of the ones currently from GSF or ECP will work on my car.
The...
Recently my 172 has had a slight wobble/vibration that can be felt through the car when decelerating/braking.
I got in the car yesterday to drive to work and could hear a similar noise to a brake pad slightly catching on the disc. Further into the journey I could hear a knocking noise that...
Got in the 172 this morning, put the heater on to clear the windscreen and the motor cut out. Tried it again but to no avail.
Did a bit of investigative work and found the 30amp hadn't so mech as gone but had melted the receptacle it sits in and also damaged the fuse behind it.
I suspect it...
My 172 has been pulling to the left for quite a while. I took it to get its alignment checked and they made some changes to the front set up of the car.
However after getting it back and driving it the wheel has to be slightly off centre to the right in order to stay straight on the road...
Yeah i am pretty certain it's located on all the pulleys correctly. It's only just started doing it yesterday, managed to cover around 300 miles before it made the noise. It only does it when the car is stationary, the belt is fine at all the other operating speeds.
My 172 phase 2 has started to make a squeal when turning the steering to full lock when the car is stationary. Last weekend the car suffered an alternator failure. I replaced this and also replaced the aux belt with a genuine renault one.
The car had a new tensioner and idlers 14 thousand miles...
I just replaced the one faulty injector. However one of the other injectors failed only a few months later, in hindsight I should have just replaced all four when the first one failed.
If you replace all four I guess you'll be reducing the likelihood of this fault appearing again.
Few things I...
I wouldn't risk second hand injectors, euro car parts sell the new oem ones fairly cheaply
It will only be the injector on the misfiring cylinder that's failing. So you only need to buy one injector for cylinder three.
There's a replacement guide on this website
I've had this exact same fault twice and it turned out to be a faulty injector on both occasions.
Having a faulty injector can throw up the exact same symptoms as having a failing lambda sensor.
I had exactly the same fault and it turned out to be a failing injector on one of the cylinders, it was throwing the o2 sensor readings out making it look like it was failing. The car also had the eggy smell from the exhaust. I replaced all four and the car has never ran so smooth and...
Mine was doing something very similar to this and it turned out to be a faulty injector on number four cylinder.
How did the plugs look when you took them out? The one for the faulty injector cylinder on mine was black and charred at the end.
Does it misfire?
The reason for the rotten egg...
I recently parked my 172 phase 2 up for a couple of weeks whilst I was away with work. Driving it home on my return I noticed it had a bit of a hesitation and surge when applying a small throttle movement at low rpm, (i.e. accelerating at 40mph in 5th gear). It also felt like it had developed a...
Well it's from k tec, apparently a genuine Renault one that is for a non cup 172,
Came in the original Renault box etc...
Meant to say it's a genuine Renault one, not that it was from the dealer.
It's fitted now, I need to use the car and the old one is far too knackered to use.
Guess I'll...
That's annoyed me tbh, I specified that this was for a non cup, well it's fitted for now, I'll have to get it sorted on Monday when I contact the company I bought it off
Hi everyone, I'm currently In the process of renewing my passenger side driveshaft. I ordered a replacement one and looking at it, it isn't the same as the one I have removed from the car.
The car is a 2003 172 non cup.
Can anyone identify if the new one is correct for my car?
In the photo below...
Seeing as though im an aircraft engineer, if I had disturbed a system during maintainance I'd make sure it worked by checking if. The latch was fine before the bumper, grill etc was removed, no rusty spring, no latch caked in filth etc...
Maybe I must expect too much from a garage
I've tried all the above bits of advice (apart from crawling up the exhaust)
I'm just going to take it back to the garage on Monday, it's annoying as I've got to take time out of work and do an 80 mile round trip to sort something that should have been done.
Hi yeah I've tried pulling the lever in the car and pulling the bonnet, also tried pulling the other lever under the bonnet, it feels likes there's a lot of tension and I daren't pull the bonnet any harder tbh.
