so my beloved trophy has developed a knocking/judder/hesitation. This only happens when in gear & turning (left & right). If i dip the clutch & coast round a corner it doesnt do it, only while accelerating, so im thinking possibly driveshaft related (but i dont really have a clue). Any...
It sounds like either a hole in the cat, bend cat flange or the cat/manifold joint (spring bolts/gasket). I have had no end of problems with this & have just ordered a new cat 'cos I was sick of trying to bodge it over & over.
PS - Exhaust paste is only to be used after the cat!
Unfortunately for me the noise has started to come back again!!! I bought a genuine Renault cat/mani joint kit & had a decent local garage fit this, which solved the problem. Now 6 months later the noise is back.
Question1 - Can the sealing ring have perished at all in 6 months?
Question 2 -...
The 'FROM' shortcut is definately the easiest way to do this. It depends on how you have your interface set up, however it is found in the shortcut menu & will apply a distance (of your input) from any point selected
I have just replaced all 4 pe2s for ps3s & i highly rate them for grip in comparison. Wet grip seems a lot better so far also. Try event-tyres.com, their price was the best including fitting/balancing etc
Im looking into buying one of these bad boys soon hopefully. Who can I get to fit it for me though, because I have little faith in garages local to me these days
Just had Event-tyres at my place of work to fit 4 new Michelin PS3 tyres. I cannot recommend these guys enough for their cost, timekeeping, customer support, workmanship etc.
Pressure will build up the higher the revs, ie, a very small leak will only be noticeable when put under high pressure. This will become worse & eventually start to happen lower & lower down the rev range.
Sounds like an air leak in the exhaust on the cat/manifold joint. Replace with genuine Renault parts or this will happen again a few months down the line. IIRC mine was about £30 direct from Renault
I am also in need of replacing 4 PE2s on my trophy. From my endless research, it appears that the PS3s are a direct replacement & they offer on par levels of grip in the dry & more grip in the wet. I have also read many reviews stating that they are slightly quieter (ie road noise) & will wear...
The flange on the cat didn't look bent/distortedI only replaced the gasket itself with a standard renault part & also used some exhaust paste for good measure (pfft).
Would it be worth replacing gasket & bolts with ktecs offering below?

I posted a while ago (about october time) regarding an annoying whistling noise but only above 3k rpm, which turned out to be the exhaust manifold/cat joint. The sealing ring had slightly perished causing an air leak. I Replaced that & all was sorted.
Recently this noise has starting to come...
Yeh apparently its something to do with the resistances of the connectors. I tried this with my sony head unit & connects2 adaptor. IIRC Matt @ MTaudio had a solution but I didnt bother
