Removed the aircon off my 172 and the alternator belt needs.replacing so instead of buying an original belt and larger pulley does anyone have an idea of what length belt i need to run my aircon delete using the standard idler?

How do I remove the cam cover on 172? I have made a tool to hold cams down on the N/S and using a clamp secured the O/F also but the cover will rotate and rock slightly but will not come off the cylinder head. Is the something im missing or is it just a tight fit? Tom
