I agree. I find that they're a bit on/off. When they're on, though, they send you through the windscreen.

I have a new ST and mine are pretty loud at low speeds. Sounds like the pad compound is quite abrasive. Mine is only 2 weeks old though, so maybe they will smooth off.

Hi, Since having my starter motor changed a few weeks ago, my car (Clio 172 phase 2) has developed a knocking noise under hard acceleration in 1st gear, but only in 1st. It sounds like the wheels are spinning (but they're not) and the TC/ESP is kicking in. When I turn ESP off though, it still...

Quick update: New starter motor. Fixed :)

I've taken it to the local RAC approved garage as I need the car done soon. Who knows how that is going to go! They said they'd check the earth, relays etc before changing the starter motor. Hopefully it is something simple... (cheap)

Unfortunately it didn't solve it. Called the RAC out. Battery was fine, over 12v. We managed to bump start it, leading him to think it's the starter motor... He couldn't test the starter motor on the roadside because it's so difficult to get to. :/

Mine may be doing that too. I'll let you know of my progress. Cheers.

Thanks for your replies. I tried jump starting it using my brother's car, with no luck. If the battery is at fault, should the jump 'start' have started it?
