172 cup has a speedo drive output, other than that they are identical if the 172 one is a ph2.

the box changed for the 172 in late 2002. so a late Ph2 172 (52,03) had jc5130. Ph2 previous to that had JC5129.
Then the PH1 was different again
The difference is the speedo is run from the gearbox in the earlier one (129) where as now they run from the ABS.
But as the cups dont have ABS then they have the JC5129 box

2002 Clio 172
^^^ What he said. Mine is an 02 plate non cup and has the JC5129 box. You will need a box from a cup, or a box from an early 02 (or older) non cup, in order for you to be able to hook up your speedo. Everything else about the two boxes is the same as far as I know.
